Managing Your Library from Chat

Tidying a library by hand is fine for three items and miserable for three hundred. So you can just ask.

AI Chat can rename, delete, restore, move, and file your content for you — in bulk, in plain language, and reversibly.

What You Can Ask For

Say it the way you would say it to a person:

  • "Delete everything in this project older than June."
  • "Restore what I deleted this week."
  • "Move all my NCLEX podcasts into a folder called Pharm."
  • "Rename this deck to Unit 4 — Cardiac."
  • "Take these three files out of the project but keep them in my library."
  • "Make a project called FAR exam prep and move this chat into it."

It works across everything in your library: pages, files, PDFs, images, videos, flashcard decks, podcasts, meeting notes, research sessions, folders, and projects.

Deleting from Chat Is Always Reversible

Nothing you delete from chat is destroyed. A deleted item leaves your active library and any project it was in, moves to Deleted, stays openable there, and comes back exactly as it was when you restore it.

"Archive it", "trash it", "clean this up", and "get rid of these" all mean the same reversible delete.

Because it is reversible, chat acts on a clear request straight away rather than asking you to confirm each item. If you change your mind, ask it to restore — or open Library → Deleted yourself. See Deleting and Restoring Content.

Permanent removal is not something chat does. That lives in Library → Deleted, where you do it deliberately.

Bulk Requests

A request like "clean up my recordings from last year" is handled as one operation, not one item at a time. Chat works out which items you mean, acts on the whole set, and reports back what changed — a count and a few names — plus anything it could not do and why.

Up to 50 items are handled in a single request. Larger clean-ups are done in batches.

When your wording is vague, chat picks a sensible interpretation and tells you which one it used. Ask for "old stuff" and you will get something like "Deleted 12 recordings not updated in the last 90 days — they're in Deleted if you need them back." If that is not the cut you meant, say so and ask it to restore.

Working Inside a Project

Inside a project chat, these requests default to that project:

  • New folders you ask for are filed into it.
  • Anything the chat creates is filed into it automatically.
  • Remove from project takes an item out of the project without deleting it — it stays in your library.

Two safeguards are worth knowing:

  • A chat cannot delete the project it is living in. That would make the whole workspace, and the conversation itself, read-only with no way back. Delete a project from the project page instead.
  • Content inside a deleted project cannot be changed until you restore the project.

Starting a Project from a Conversation

If a chat has turned into real work, ask for a project and chat will create one and move the conversation into it. From that point on, everything the chat makes is filed there, and the project's sources and instructions come with it.

Chat only moves a conversation into a project when you have agreed to it in that conversation — it will not relocate your work on its own.

Things It Will Not Do

  • It will not tidy beyond what you asked. No "while I was in there, I also…".
  • It will not guess between two items with the same name. It asks which one you meant.
  • It cannot delete or rename chats. Manage those from the chat list.
  • Restoring a meeting note counts against your plan's recording library. If the library is full, you will be told to delete another recording or upgrade. See Plans and Limits.
