Explore and Discover
The Explore page lets you browse public study materials shared by other Scholarly users. Find flashcard sets, pages, research reports, and more across a wide range of subjects.
Opening Explore
Explore lives at scholarly.so/explore — open it directly, or follow the Explore link in the navigation on the Scholarly homepage. It doesn't currently appear in the in-app sidebar, so it's worth bookmarking if you use it often.
Browsing Content
The page shows publicly shared content organized by popularity and recency.
- Search -- Type a topic or keyword to find relevant materials.
- Trending searches -- See what other students are searching for right now.
- Content cards -- Each result shows a preview with the title, content type, and creator.
Using Shared Content
When you find something useful:
- View -- Click any card to read or study the full content.
- Duplicate -- Copy any shared item to your own account. This creates an independent copy in your library that you own and can edit freely — study a duplicated flashcard deck, edit a duplicated page, or build on a duplicated research report. The original remains unchanged, and your progress and edits never affect it.
- Share -- Forward content to classmates with a direct link.
Content Types on Explore
You can discover:
- Flashcard sets
- Pages and notes
- Research reports
- PDFs
Sharing Your Own Content
Content only appears on Explore when its creator has made it public. To share something you made, open it, use the Share option, and set it to public — see Sharing Content for the full walkthrough of link sharing and visibility settings. You can switch it back to private at any time.
Privacy
Only content that creators have explicitly made public appears on Explore. Your private content never shows up here unless you choose to share it.
FAQ
Is Explore available on the free plan? Yes. Browsing Explore works on every plan, including free.
Can I study a duplicated flashcard deck like my own? Yes. Once duplicated, a deck behaves exactly like one you created — study modes, hard questions, and editing all work normally.
Why can't I find something a classmate shared? If they shared it with a private link, it won't appear in Explore search — only public content is listed. Ask them for the direct link instead.
