Reading a PDF isn't the same as understanding it
Most students treat a PDF as something to get through — scroll, highlight, hope it sticks. But a dense chapter or a 30-page research paper rarely gives up its meaning on the first pass, and re-reading is slow and passive. Scholarly turns your PDF into something you can interrogate: ask what a figure means, why a result matters, or how two sections connect, and get answers grounded in the exact pages.
Because every answer is cited back to your document, you can trust what you read and jump straight to the source. That same understanding becomes practice in one step — flashcards on the concepts you missed, a quiz that tests grasp instead of trivia, a summary you can revisit before an exam. The work of turning a source into study material is no longer yours to do by hand.
The result is a tighter loop: import a real source, get grounded explanations, and convert them into the practice that makes the material stick. Whether it's a textbook, lecture slides, or a paper for your literature review, your PDF stops being a wall of text and becomes a study workspace you actually move through.
Frequently asked questions
What kinds of PDFs can I upload?
Textbook chapters, lecture slides, research papers, handouts, and scanned documents all work. Scholarly reads tables, figures, and complex layouts, and falls back to vision for scanned or image-only pages.
Are the answers actually accurate?
Every answer is grounded in your document and backed by citations that point to the exact passage, so you can verify it in seconds instead of trusting a black box.
Can I work with more than one PDF at once?
Yes. Link multiple PDFs to a single conversation and the AI cross-references across all of them — ideal for a literature review or comparing sources.
What can I create from a PDF?
From any PDF you can generate flashcards, quizzes, summaries, study guides, podcasts, video lectures, slide decks, mind maps, and more — most of it directly in chat.
Is it free to start?
Yes — you can start for free with no credit card. Upgrade to Ultimate for higher limits, longer documents, and unlimited AI creations.
