Plans and Limits

Scholarly offers two plans: Free and Ultimate. Free gives you core study tools, daily chat/study limits, and a small set of lifetime credits for AI creations and uploads. Ultimate unlocks every paid feature with unlimited AI creations and uploads.

Free

The free plan includes:

• AI chat -- 3 messages per day across all models.
• Voice mode -- 15 minutes of voice chat per day.
• AI creations -- 3 total free AI creations, shared across every AI creation type: flashcard decks, deck-wide AI edits (Refine with AI), podcasts, video lectures, slides, mind maps, study guides, infographics, worksheets, timelines, SOPs, flowcharts, lesson plans, outlines, spreadsheets, story books, Study Packs, Deep Research, and AI Meeting Notes. These are lifetime free credits and do not reset.
• Manual flashcards -- Build decks card by card in the Build Manually tab — no daily limit, no AI required.
• Studying flashcards -- Unlimited.
• PDF → flashcards -- AI generates a deck from up to 32 pages of a PDF on free — long enough for a full lecture chapter without needing to upgrade.
• Pages and notes -- Unlimited note-taking.
• Quizzes -- 5 practice questions per day.
• Practice exams -- 1 exam attempt per day.
• File uploads -- 1 total free upload, up to 8 MB. This is a lifetime free upload credit and does not reset.
• Deep Research -- Uses the shared AI creations allowance on Free.
• AI Video Lectures -- Every length — Quick (3–5 min), Standard, and In-depth (8–12 min) — and every Video Mode (Standard, Math, Kids, Freestyle, Editorial, Retro) is available on every plan. You can render at 480p (fastest) or 720p (recommended) on every plan; 1080p Full HD is a paid upgrade.
• Mind Maps, Study Guides, and Infographics -- Each generates a downloadable PDF from your material or a typed prompt. Every plan can create them; they count toward your shared lifetime AI creations on Free.
• PDF document themes -- Typeset PDF documents (study guides, worksheets, lesson plans, outlines, SOPs, timelines) come in four design themes — Professional, Academic, Modern, and Playful — all free on every plan.
• AI Slides themes -- Every visual theme (Editorial, Vibrant, Minimal Mono, Pitch, Freestyle) is available on every plan.
• Captions -- Captions on AI Podcasts and AI Video Lectures are included on every plan.
• Connected Apps -- Link Google Workspace at no extra cost. See Connected Apps.

Exporting and printing flashcard decks (Anki .apkg, PDF, or print) requires a paid plan.

Ultimate

Ultimate unlocks paid features and removes the creation and upload caps:

• Unlimited normal chat -- No daily message cap for normal chat models.
• Premium chat -- Unlimited messages with paid models like GPT 5.4 and Claude Sonnet 5.
• AI creations -- Unlimited, across every AI creation type: flashcards, deck edits, podcasts, video lectures, slides, mind maps, study guides, infographics, worksheets, timelines, SOPs, flowcharts, lesson plans, outlines, spreadsheets, story books, Study Packs, Deep Research, and AI Meeting Notes.
• Voice mode -- 60 minutes of voice chat per day.
• Unlimited quizzes and practice exams -- No daily question or exam cap.
• Unlimited uploads -- Up to 300 MB per file.
• PDF → flashcards up to 1,000 pages -- Generate decks from full textbooks, not just a chapter.
• 1080p video lectures -- Render AI Video Lectures in 1080p Full HD (480p and 720p are available on every plan). All lecture lengths are available on every plan.
• Watermark-free videos -- Remove the Scholarly logo from AI Video Lectures.
• Choose your AI model -- Pick a specific AI model in any create tool. Free users can browse the model picker; choosing a model is a paid feature, and paid users otherwise get the recommended model automatically.
• Unlimited research reports -- No daily research limit.
• Flashcard exports -- Export any deck to Anki .apkg, PDF, or print.
• Early access and priority support -- Get the highest support tier and earlier access to new features.

Lifetime Free Credits

Lifetime credits do not reset daily. Once you use them, upgrade to Ultimate to keep creating or uploading.

The shared AI creations credits cover every AI creation type — flashcard decks, deck edits, podcasts, video lectures, slides, mind maps, study guides, infographics, worksheets, timelines, SOPs, flowcharts, lesson plans, outlines, spreadsheets, story books, Study Packs, Deep Research, and AI Meeting Notes. You can spend the 3 free creations on any mix of these.

Daily Limits

Daily limits reset every 24 hours. These are separate from the lifetime AI creation and upload credits above.

When you hit a limit, you'll see an upgrade prompt explaining exactly what happened: whether you used a lifetime free credit or a daily limit. The Create window also flags your remaining AI creation credits upfront so you don't have to guess what will and won't run.

Upgrading

Click Upgrade from any limit prompt, or open the Pricing page from the sidebar. Ultimate is available as a monthly or annual subscription. Exact prices and what each plan unlocks can vary by region — the Pricing page always shows the current terms for your account.

What the Upgrade Screen Shows You

The upgrade screen compares Free and Ultimate side by side so you can see exactly what you unlock:

• A feature-by-feature comparison.
• A toggle to switch between monthly and yearly pricing.
• A clear call-to-action labeled for the action you were trying to take -- for example, "Unlock and keep studying" when you hit a study limit.

Managing Your Subscription

Access billing and subscription management from Settings → Billing. You can view your current plan, update payment methods, change between monthly and yearly, or cancel your subscription. Changes take effect at the end of the current billing period -- you keep access to your paid features until then.
