AI Creation Credit Packs
Paid plans include a set number of AI creations each week. A credit pack is a one-time purchase that sits behind that allowance: when the week's creations are gone, Scholarly draws from your credits instead of stopping you.
Packs are available on Premium and Laureate. They are not a subscription, and there is nothing to renew or cancel. If you are on Free, the packs window points you to the plans instead. Members whose access comes from a team workspace use their workspace's credits rather than personal packs.

The 15-pack is marked Most popular and the 40-pack Best value. The per-creation price is shown under each pack name so you can compare them at a glance.
Press Buy on a pack to go to Stripe Checkout. Once the payment completes, the credits are added to your account and are ready to use straight away.
Where to Find It
Four places open the same Buy AI creation credits window:
- Settings → Billing — an AI creation credits panel with a Buy credits button. It also tells you how many credits you currently have.
- Settings → Usage — the same panel, on plans that show the usage page.
- The plan window — when you are on Premium and have hit the weekly creation cap, the offer includes Or buy a one-time credit pack underneath the plan options.
- The weekly limit notice — when a creation is blocked because you have used the week's allowance, the notice carries a Buy credits button next to the upgrade one.
What the Window Shows
Before you buy anything, the window tells you how many credits you have left, so you are not guessing whether you already topped up.
If you have bought a pack before, it also does the arithmetic for you: how much you have spent on credits this month, how many creations that bought, and what you are paying per creation — set beside what the same creations cost on a plan. A Compare Laureate button opens the plan offer with that comparison in view.
That comparison exists because packs are priced for bursts, not for steady use. Laureate includes 80 AI creations every week, which works out cheaper than buying credits month after month. If you are topping up regularly, the plan is almost certainly the better deal.
How Credits Are Spent
- Your weekly allowance goes first. Credits are only drawn once the week's creations are used up. There is no switch to turn on and nothing to select at creation time.
- They never expire. Unused credits stay on your account through weekly resets and across billing periods.
- One credit covers one standard AI creation. Frontier models cost more — a model that
draws two or three credits per creation shows a
2×or3×badge next to its name in the model picker. See AI Models and Reasoning for which models those are. - A failed creation gives the credit back. If generation does not complete, the credit it reserved returns to your balance.
- Chat does not spend them. Credits cover AI creations — documents, slides, podcasts, video lectures, flashcards, and the other generators.
Your weekly allowance still resets every Monday at 00:00 UTC, and a fresh week is always used before your credits are touched again.
Worth Knowing
- Credits belong to your account, not to a plan tier. If you upgrade or downgrade, any balance you have bought stays where it is.
- A paused or expired subscription cannot buy packs — the option only appears while your personal paid plan is active.
- Purchases show up in your usage history as a Credit pack entry, alongside the creations that spent them.
