AI Creation Credit Packs

Paid plans include a set number of AI Creation Credits each week. A credit pack is a one-time
purchase that sits behind that allowance: when the week's creations are gone, Scholarly
draws from your credits instead of stopping you.

Packs are available on personal paid plans, including Premium Lite where offered, and on a paid Premium or Laureate seat in a
team workspace. They are not a subscription, and there is nothing to renew or cancel. If you
are on Free or on a team without a team plan, the packs window points you to the plans instead.

On a team, an Owner or Admin can also buy a pack for any member on the team's bill, see
Buying packs for team members.

Pack Sizes

Pack Price (USD) Per credit
10 AI Creation Credits $10 $1.00
35 AI Creation Credits $30 $0.86
120 AI Creation Credits $90 $0.75
500 AI Creation Credits $225 $0.45
2,200 AI Creation Credits $999 $0.45

Prices are in USD, excluding tax. The per-credit price is shown under each pack name,
rounded to two decimal places. A creation may use more than one credit depending on the model.
Previously purchased credits stay on your balance and never expire.

Pick a pack and press the Buy button under the list to go to Stripe Checkout. Once the
payment completes, the credits are added to your account and are ready to use straight away.
Scholarly returns you to the page you were on. If you bought the pack from a weekly limit
notice, it also reopens what you were creating; files you had added in the Upload window are
restored with it.

Where to Find It

These places sell the same packs:

  • Settings → Plan & usage: the AI Creation Credits panel shows your allowance, purchased balance, and Buy credits action. Paid team members see their personal usage here even though the team manages their subscription billing.
  • The weekly limit notice: when a creation is blocked because you have used the
week's allowance, the notice carries an Add 10 credits · $10 button that goes straight
to checkout for the smallest pack, and More sizes for the full list. When your
allowance is back within a day, the notice says so and keeps both options quieter. If you
have reached the cap in two or more of the last four weeks, or spent $20 or more on packs
this month, it leads with Laureate instead.
  • The credit offer: on Premium, pressing the Laureate button on that notice opens a
screen that sets a one-time pack beside Laureate, with every pack size listed.
Compare all plans switches to the full plan comparison.
  • Create windows: on a paid plan, the footer of each create step shows how many of this
week's AI Creation Credits are left. At three or fewer, an Add credits link appears
    beside it.

Buying Packs for Team Members

Owners and Admins of a paid team workspace can buy a pack for a member on the team's bill:

  • Team → Overview: the AI Creation Credits card has an Add credits button, and
every member who is At limit or Near limit gets one on their row.
  • Team → Billing: the Extra credits for members section.

Pick the member and the pack, then pay in Stripe Checkout. The charge goes to the team's
billing (it appears in the team's billing history as a member credit pack). The credits go
to the member you picked and follow the same rules as any pack: weekly allowance first,
then pack credits, which never expire. The credits card shows unspent pack credits as
+N extra next to each member's weekly meter.

What the Window Shows

Before you buy anything, the window tells you how many credits you have left, so you are
not guessing whether you already topped up.

If you have bought a pack before, it also does the arithmetic for you: how much you have
spent on credits this month, how many creations that bought, and what you are paying per
creation, set beside what the same creations cost on a plan. A Compare Laureate
button opens the plan offer with that comparison in view.

The window also sets Laureate beside any pack larger than a Laureate week (more than 80
credits), where the plan is the better buy.

That comparison exists because packs are priced for bursts, not for steady use. Laureate
includes 80 AI Creation Credits every week, which works out cheaper than buying credits month
after month. If you are topping up regularly, the plan is almost certainly the better
deal.

How Credits Are Spent

  • Your weekly allowance goes first. Credits are only drawn once the week's creations
are used up. There is no switch to turn on and nothing to select at creation time.
  • They never expire. Unused credits stay on your account through weekly resets and
    across billing periods.
  • One credit covers one standard AI creation. Some models cost more, a model that
draws more than one credit per creation shows a badge such as 2×, 3×, or 4× next to its name in
the model picker. See AI Models and Reasoning for which
models those are. A video lecture or podcast longer than 15 minutes adds one credit; longer than 30 minutes adds two. Its Create button shows the total before you start.
  • A failed creation gives the credit back. If generation does not complete, the credit
it reserved returns to your balance.
  • Chat does not spend them. Credits cover AI creations, documents, slides, podcasts,
video lectures, flashcards, and the other generators.

Your weekly allowance still resets every Monday at 00:00 UTC, and a fresh week is always
used before your credits are touched again.

Worth Knowing

  • Credits belong to your account, not to a plan tier. If you upgrade or downgrade, any
balance you have bought stays where it is.
  • A paused or expired subscription cannot buy packs, the option only appears while your
personal paid plan or paid team seat is active.
  • Purchases show up in your usage history as a Credit pack entry, alongside the
    creations that spent them.
