Commercial Use Policy

Last updated: April 2026

1. Overview

This Commercial Use Policy outlines the rights and permissions granted to users of Scholarly ("Service") regarding the commercial use of content created within the platform. We believe that the materials you create using our tools should be yours to use freely, including for commercial purposes.

2. Commercial Use Rights

You are permitted to use content you create within Scholarly for commercial purposes, subject to the terms outlined in this policy. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Selling or distributing study materials, notes, or flashcards you have created
  • Using AI-generated summaries, notes, or other outputs in commercial publications or products
  • Incorporating content created on Scholarly into courses, workshops, or educational programs you offer commercially
  • Using content in professional or business contexts such as training materials, presentations, or reports
  • Monetizing content through platforms, blogs, newsletters, or other distribution channels

3. Conditions of Commercial Use

Your right to commercially use content created within Scholarly is subject to the following conditions:

  • You must have an active Scholarly account in good standing
  • You must comply with our Terms of Service at all times
  • You must not misrepresent the origin of AI-generated content as being entirely human-authored where such disclosure is required by law or professional standards
  • You must ensure that any content you use commercially does not infringe on third-party intellectual property rights
  • You are solely responsible for ensuring your commercial use complies with applicable laws and regulations

4. Your Content

As stated in our Terms of Service, you retain ownership of the content you create, upload, or share through the Service. This ownership extends to commercial use — you do not need separate permission from Scholarly to use your own content commercially.

The license you grant to Scholarly under the Terms of Service (for operating and improving the Service) does not restrict your ability to commercially use, license, sell, or distribute your content as you see fit.

5. AI-Generated Content

Content generated by our AI systems based on your inputs may be used commercially, with the following considerations:

  • AI-generated outputs are provided "as-is" without warranties of accuracy or completeness
  • You are responsible for reviewing and verifying AI-generated content before commercial use
  • Other users may receive similar or identical AI-generated outputs from similar inputs
  • Scholarly does not guarantee exclusivity of AI-generated content

6. Restrictions

The following uses are not permitted under this policy:

  • Reselling or redistributing the Scholarly platform itself or its underlying technology
  • Using Scholarly's branding, logos, or trademarks in a way that implies endorsement or affiliation without written permission
  • Automated bulk extraction of content from the platform for resale
  • Creating a competing service using content systematically generated through Scholarly
  • Using content in a manner that violates applicable laws, regulations, or third-party rights

7. Attribution

Attribution to Scholarly is appreciated but not required when using content commercially. If you choose to provide attribution, you may reference "Created with Scholarly" or "scholarly.so."

8. Limitation of Liability

Scholarly is not liable for any claims, damages, or losses arising from your commercial use of content created within the platform. You assume all responsibility and risk associated with the commercial use of such content, including ensuring compliance with applicable intellectual property laws, advertising standards, and industry regulations.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Commercial Use Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
