Guide Billing

Billing and Subscriptions

Scholarly offers two plans: Free and Ultimate. This guide covers how to manage your subscription, billing, and account.

Plans

  • Free — Access to core study tools with daily chat and quiz limits, plus a small set of lifetime credits for AI creations and file uploads (they do not reset). No credit card required.
  • Ultimate -- Every paid feature unlocked: unlimited normal and premium chat, unlimited AI creations across flashcards, podcasts, video lectures, slides, and meeting notes, uploads up to 300 MB, 1,000-page PDF flashcards, 1 hour of voice mode per day, flashcard exports to Anki, and priority support. Available monthly or yearly.

For a detailed comparison of what each plan includes, see Plans and Limits.

Upgrading

Click Upgrade in the sidebar or visit the Pricing page to see plan options. Select a plan and enter your payment details. Your upgrade takes effect immediately and you gain access to the paid features in that plan right away.

Managing Your Subscription

Go to Settings → Billing to manage your plan. From there you can:

  • View your current plan and renewal date.
  • Switch between monthly and yearly billing.
  • Cancel your subscription.
  • Update your payment method.

Pausing Your Subscription

If you need a break but don't want to lose your saved content or settings, you can pause your subscription instead of cancelling. While paused:

  • Your billing stops until you come back.
  • Your account stays intact -- flashcards, decks, podcasts, and notes are all where you left them.
  • Resume anytime to get premium access back without setting anything up again.

The pause option appears as the first step when you start the cancel flow, so you can choose pause without committing to a full cancel.

Cancellation

Cancel your subscription anytime from the billing page. The flow walks you through a few short steps designed to make sure you get the right outcome:

  1. Pause first -- A one-click pause option so you can step away without losing your account.
  2. Reason picker -- Pick the closest reason from a short list (too expensive, not using it enough, missing a feature, switching to a competitor, technical issues, or other). Some reasons let you add a quick free-text note so we know exactly what to fix.
  3. Tailored offer -- Based on your reason, you may be offered a discount, a pause, or a different plan to keep your account where it works for you.
  4. Confirm and cancel -- Skip any offers and confirm to finish cancelling.

After canceling:

  • You keep paid-plan access until the end of your current billing period.
  • Your content (flashcards, PDFs, notes, podcasts, video lectures) is never deleted. Everything stays in your account.
  • You can re-subscribe at any time to regain paid features.

Reasons and feedback go straight to the product team and shape what we build next, so it's the best way to vote on what to improve.
