Deleting and Restoring Content
Deleting in Scholarly is reversible. When you delete an item, it moves to a Deleted tab instead of disappearing — so if you remove the wrong deck the night before an exam, you can bring it back in two clicks.
Deleting an Item
You can delete any content item — a PDF, flashcard deck, podcast, video, recording, page, or research session — from a few places:
- Three-dot menu -- Open the ⋮ menu on a content row (or on the item's own page) and choose Delete.
- Right-click -- On the All Content page, right-click any row and choose Delete.
The item leaves your Home page, library, search, and any folders it was in. Nothing else about it is changed — its cards, transcript, or notes are all kept.
Deleting a Folder
Delete a folder from its options menu the same way. Deleting a folder removes the folder itself, not the content inside it — the items stay in your library and remain accessible from Home, search, and All Content. Deleted folders appear in their own Deleted Folders section on the Deleted tab.
See Folders and Organization for how folders work.
The Deleted Tab
To see everything you've deleted, open All Content from the sidebar and switch the tab at the top to Deleted. This is your trash: deleted folders show at the top, deleted items below, and the content-type filter works here too if you're hunting for one specific thing.
Deleted items stay on this tab until you restore them or permanently delete them — there's no auto-emptying, so there's no rush to recover something.
The Recently Deleted Panel
The sidebar also has a Recently Deleted entry that opens a compact panel from anywhere in the app. It lists your deleted folders and content with a search box, and each row has two quick actions: Restore and Delete Permanently. You can also select several items and permanently delete them in one go.
Restoring
On the Deleted tab, open an item's ⋮ menu (or right-click it) and choose Restore — or use the restore action in the Recently Deleted panel. The item returns to your library exactly as it was. Restoring a folder brings the folder back with its contents still linked.
Deleted Items and Share Links
If you delete something you had shared, it drops out of shared listings. To be certain nobody can reach an item through a link you sent out, turn its sharing off from the Share menu before (or after restoring) deleting it — see Sharing and Collaboration.
Permanent Deletion
To erase an item for good, use Delete Permanently in the Recently Deleted panel (sidebar → Recently Deleted). You'll be asked to confirm first — permanent deletion cannot be undone, so double-check before you commit.
If you want all of your data permanently erased, you can delete your entire account from Settings → My Account. That removes your account and all associated data and cannot be undone. See Account, Login, and Password Recovery and Settings.
