Captions for Podcasts and Videos
Every AI Podcast and AI Video Lecture you generate on Scholarly comes with synced captions. Read along while you listen, study with the sound off, or follow a lecture in a second language — captions cover all of it.
Where Captions Show Up
Captions are available on:
- AI Podcasts — toggle the CC button on the podcast player.
- AI Video Lectures — use your browser's native caption controls, just like any other video.
Both are on every plan, including free.
Turning Captions On or Off
Podcasts
The podcast player has a dedicated CC button. Click it to switch captions on, click again to hide them. Captions are off by default the first time you open a podcast — turn them on once and the player remembers your choice for the next episode.
Video Lectures
Video lectures use standard browser captions. Hover the video, open the player's settings or captions menu, and choose your captions track. Some browsers also let you change caption font size or background colour from there.
Speaker Labels
Podcast captions follow the same speaker layout as the transcript:
- Alex (host)
- Sam (producer)
- Guest (the voice you picked when generating the episode)
You always know who is talking, even when the audio is off.
Languages
Captions are generated in the same language as the audio. If you produce a podcast in Spanish or a video lecture in French, the captions come out in Spanish or French to match. No separate setup — pick your language when you generate, and the captions follow.
Caption Quality
Captions are written from the same script that drives the narration, so they're frame-accurate to what the speaker is saying. If you fix a typo by regenerating the episode or video, the captions regenerate with it.
Tips
- Studying in noisy spaces? Captions let you follow a podcast without earbuds.
- Learning a language? Generate a podcast in your target language and use captions as a side-by-side reading aid.
- Reviewing fast? Skim the transcript with captions on at 1.5× or 2× playback to scan a long lecture quickly.
- Quiet environments? Watch a video lecture muted with captions on — perfect for libraries, late nights, or studying with someone else nearby.
