Switching to a Team Plan
Already using Scholarly on Free or Ultimate as an individual? You can move your group onto Teams (the Enterprise plan) so everyone shares one bill, one library, and per-person weekly AI credits.
When Teams is the right move
Switch when you want:
- One central bill instead of everyone subscribing (or expensing) separately.
- Every paid feature unlocked for every teammate without upgrade prompts.
- A shared library via Your team sharing.
- Per-member 450 AI credits / week instead of individual Free/Ultimate lifetime caps.
Teams is a fit for training teams, L&D, research labs, classes, schools, and companies — see Who Teams is for and Scholarly for Teams.
What changes when you start a team
| Individual Free / Ultimate | Scholarly Teams | |
|---|---|---|
| Billing | Per person | Per seat, one Stripe subscription |
| AI limits | Lifetime / plan caps | 450 credits per member / week |
| Features | Depends on plan | Every paid feature for every member |
| Sharing | Private / public / invites | Plus Your team shared library |
| Admin | None | Owner / Admin / Member roles |
Exact Ultimate and Free limits are in Plans and Limits and Billing and Subscriptions.
How to switch
- Go to Scholarly for Teams or choose My team or business during signup / onboarding.
- Create the team, pick seats (1–29 self-serve), and choose monthly ($45/seat) or yearly ($324/seat, 40% off).
- Complete Stripe checkout — you become the Owner.
- Invite teammates by email from the Team page.
- Share your existing folders and content with Your team so the group lands in one library.
Step-by-step: Getting Started with Teams. Billing details: Team Billing and Seats.
What happens to your existing content
Your personal library stays yours. Creating a team does not delete PDFs, notes, decks, or other items you already made. To make them available to teammates:
- Share folders or items with Your team (see Sharing with Your Team), or
- Invite people into specific items via the general sharing flows.
You can be an active member of only one team at a time. If you already belong to another team, leave or ask an admin to remove you before joining a new one.
If you already pay for Ultimate
Starting a Teams subscription puts your group on the Enterprise team plan with weekly credits and team admin controls. Manage the team bill from Team → Billing & usage. For questions about overlapping individual subscriptions, email hello@scholarly.so — we'll help you sort seats and timing.
After you switch
- Admins manage seats, roles, model access, and billing — Managing Your Team.
- Members accept invites and start creating — Joining a Team.
- Everyone tracks their own weekly credits — How AI Credits Work.
