Direct answer
How do I make a training video in French from an SOP?
Upload the SOP, policy or handbook, set the output language to French, and Scholarly scripts a narrated, chaptered module from those files only, keeping your step order. Viewers watch in a browser with French captions and a searchable transcript.
- What goes in: SOPs, policy PDFs, onboarding handbooks, product guides, enablement decks and recorded walkthroughs. Up to 10 files per module on Premium, 20 on Laureate.
- What comes out: A narrated training module with a chapter per stage, captions and a transcript. Paid plans export a watermark-free MP4 for an LMS, intranet or wiki.
- How French is handled: Narration, on-screen steps and captions are in French. Generate an English version from the same source when a team works in both. Narration uses a French voice. Canadian French is a separate picker entry for the script and is read with the same French voice.
- What each plan gets: Free renders one roughly 2-minute module at 720p. Premium includes 15 AI Creation Credits a week, 1080p and target lengths up to 45 minutes. Scholarly Teams adds a shared library and roles.

How Scholarly handles French
What changes when the output language is French, taken from how the speech and rendering pipeline actually works.
Voice
Narration uses a French voice. Canadian French is a separate picker entry for the script and is read with the same French voice.
Script and layout
Latin script, left to right. Titles, captions and the transcript are written in French along with the narration.
Variants in the picker
The picker lists French and Canadian French. Choose Canadian French for Quebec vocabulary and spelling in the script.
Check before you share
Quebec audiences will hear a standard French voice even when the script uses Canadian French. Check terms that differ between the two.
Where it is used

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can my source be in English and the output in French?
Yes. The source and the output do not have to share a language. Upload an English PDF, deck or recording, set the output language to French in the creation panel, and the script, text and narration are written in French. Leave the setting on Auto and Scholarly follows the language of the source instead.
Does it support Canadian French?
For the script, yes: Canadian French is its own entry in the picker. Narration uses the same French voice for both entries today.
Can I make a training video in French for free?
Yes, once. The Free plan includes one lifetime AI Creation Credit, which renders a roughly 2-minute French module at 720p, enough to judge it on a real procedure. Paid plans add longer modules, 1080p and MP4 export.
Does it use an avatar or a presenter?
No. Scholarly makes narrated scenes with diagrams and on-screen steps, not a synthetic presenter, and it does not lip-sync a face. If a talking head is a requirement, an avatar tool is the better fit. It also does not track completion or issue certificates, so keep those in your LMS.
Is Scholarly's interface available in French?
Not yet. The app itself is in English or Japanese, but what you create can be in French: pick it once as your default output language in Settings, or per creation in the language row of the creation panel.
