Direct answer
Can AI write a quiz in French from a PDF?
Yes. Upload the PDF, notes or deck, set the output language to French, and choose question types and difficulty. Scholarly writes the questions, answer options and explanations in French, and each explanation points to the passage it came from.
- What goes in: PDFs, notes, slide decks, pasted text and other files in your library, including scanned pages.
- What comes out: Multiple choice, true/false, short-answer and fill-in-the-blank questions with explanations, plus full-length practice tests on paid plans.
- How French is handled: Questions, options and explanations are written in French, whatever language the source is in. Narration uses a French voice. Canadian French is a separate picker entry for the script and is read with the same French voice.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can my source be in English and the output in French?
Yes. The source and the output do not have to share a language. Upload an English PDF, deck or recording, set the output language to French in the creation panel, and the script, text and narration are written in French. Leave the setting on Auto and Scholarly follows the language of the source instead.
Does it support Canadian French?
For the script, yes: Canadian French is its own entry in the picker. Narration uses the same French voice for both entries today.
Is the French quiz generator free?
You can start free: Free accounts generate quizzes and answer 5 lifetime practice questions in French. Paid plans unlock unlimited practice, longer sources and full-length practice tests.
Which question types can I get in French?
Multiple choice, true/false and short answer, plus fill-in-the-blank questions in study and exam modes. All of them, including the explanations, are written in French.
Is Scholarly's interface available in French?
Not yet. The app itself is in English or Japanese, but what you create can be in French: pick it once as your default output language in Settings, or per creation in the language row of the creation panel.
