Direct answer
Can AI write a quiz in Dutch from a PDF?
Yes. Upload the PDF, notes or deck, set the output language to Dutch, and choose question types and difficulty. Scholarly writes the questions, answer options and explanations in Dutch, and each explanation points to the passage it came from.
- What goes in: PDFs, notes, slide decks, pasted text and other files in your library, including scanned pages.
- What comes out: Multiple choice, true/false, short-answer and fill-in-the-blank questions with explanations, plus full-length practice tests on paid plans.
- How Dutch is handled: Questions, options and explanations are written in Dutch, whatever language the source is in. Dutch narration is spoken by a multilingual speech model that is told to speak Dutch, because the first engine has no Dutch setting and would otherwise guess.
- What each plan gets: Free can generate quizzes and answer 5 lifetime practice questions. Paid plans unlock unlimited practice, longer sources and full-length practice tests.

How Scholarly handles Dutch
What changes when the output language is Dutch, taken from how the speech and rendering pipeline actually works.
Voice
Dutch narration is spoken by a multilingual speech model that is told to speak Dutch, because the first engine has no Dutch setting and would otherwise guess.
Script and layout
Latin script, left to right. Titles, captions and the transcript are written in Dutch along with the narration.
Variants in the picker
The picker lists Dutch and Dutch (Belgium). Choose Dutch (Belgium) for Flemish vocabulary in the script.
Check before you share
Choose between u and je before you generate and say so in the instructions.
Where it is used
Who makes Dutch material like this
Training for teams in the Netherlands and Flanders
Onboarding and product training in Dutch from the same documents as the English version.
Multilingual Belgian teams
Make the Dutch and the French versions of one module from a single source, so both follow the same steps.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can my source be in English and the output in Dutch?
Yes. The source and the output do not have to share a language. Upload an English PDF, deck or recording, set the output language to Dutch in the creation panel, and the script, text and narration are written in Dutch. Leave the setting on Auto and Scholarly follows the language of the source instead.
Does it support Flemish?
For the script, yes: Dutch (Belgium) is its own entry in the picker. Narration is spoken by the same Dutch-speaking multilingual model for both entries.
Is the Dutch quiz generator free?
You can start free: Free accounts generate quizzes and answer 5 lifetime practice questions in Dutch. Paid plans unlock unlimited practice, longer sources and full-length practice tests.
Which question types can I get in Dutch?
Multiple choice, true/false and short answer, plus fill-in-the-blank questions in study and exam modes. All of them, including the explanations, are written in Dutch.
Is Scholarly's interface available in Dutch?
Not yet. The app itself is in English or Japanese, but what you create can be in Dutch: pick it once as your default output language in Settings, or per creation in the language row of the creation panel.
