Direct answer
Can AI make a video lecture in French from my documents?
Yes. Upload a PDF, deck or notes, set the output language to French, and Scholarly writes a script from your files, narrates it in French and renders chaptered scenes with French text on screen. The source can be in English or any other language.
- What goes in: PDFs, slide decks, Word files, notes, images, YouTube links and recordings. Up to 10 files per video on Premium, 20 on Laureate, 1 on Free.
- What comes out: A chaptered video with diagrams, charts and illustrations, narration, captions and a transcript, shareable by link. Paid plans download a watermark-free MP4.
- How French is handled: Narration, scene text and captions all follow French. Built-in English scene labels are left out of non-English lectures instead of appearing untranslated. Narration uses a French voice. Canadian French is a separate picker entry for the script and is read with the same French voice.
- What each plan gets: Free renders one roughly 2-minute video at 720p. Premium ($30/mo) includes 15 AI Creation Credits a week, 1080p and target lengths up to 45 minutes; Laureate ($99/mo) includes 80.

How Scholarly handles French
What changes when the output language is French, taken from how the speech and rendering pipeline actually works.
Voice
Narration uses a French voice. Canadian French is a separate picker entry for the script and is read with the same French voice.
Script and layout
Latin script, left to right. Titles, captions and the transcript are written in French along with the narration.
Variants in the picker
The picker lists French and Canadian French. Choose Canadian French for Quebec vocabulary and spelling in the script.
Check before you share
Quebec audiences will hear a standard French voice even when the script uses Canadian French. Check terms that differ between the two.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can my source be in English and the output in French?
Yes. The source and the output do not have to share a language. Upload an English PDF, deck or recording, set the output language to French in the creation panel, and the script, text and narration are written in French. Leave the setting on Auto and Scholarly follows the language of the source instead.
Does it support Canadian French?
For the script, yes: Canadian French is its own entry in the picker. Narration uses the same French voice for both entries today.
Is the French AI video generator free?
You can try it free: the Free plan includes one lifetime AI Creation Credit, enough for one roughly 2-minute video at 720p in French. Premium includes 15 AI Creation Credits a week, longer target lengths, 1080p and MP4 downloads.
Does the video show French on screen or only speak it?
Both. Titles, key points and diagram labels are written in French along with the narration, and the captions and transcript follow the same language. English product names or technical terms from your source can stay in English where that is how your audience says them.
Is Scholarly's interface available in French?
Not yet. The app itself is in English or Japanese, but what you create can be in French: pick it once as your default output language in Settings, or per creation in the language row of the creation panel.
