How do I make a training video in French from an SOP?

Direct answer

How do I make a training video in French from an SOP?

Upload the SOP, policy or handbook, set the output language to French, and Scholarly scripts a narrated, chaptered module from those files only, keeping your step order. Viewers watch in a browser with French captions and a searchable transcript.

  • Free plan: One lifetime AI Creation Credit and one upload (up to 8 MB; the first 32 pages of a PDF are read), enough for one French module of about 2 minutes at up to 720p, with Scholarly branding, shared by link. MP4 export is paid. No credit card.
  • Paid plans: Premium includes 15 AI Creation Credits a week, up to 10 sources per module, 1080p, target lengths up to 45 minutes and watermark-free MP4 export. A module over 15 minutes costs 1 extra credit, over 30 minutes 2. Scholarly Teams adds a shared library and roles.
  • What goes in: SOPs, policy PDFs, onboarding handbooks, product guides, enablement decks and recorded walkthroughs. Up to 10 files per module on Premium, 20 on Laureate.
  • What comes out: A narrated training module with a chapter per stage, captions and a transcript. Paid plans export a watermark-free MP4 for an LMS, intranet or wiki.
  • How French is handled: Narration, on-screen steps and captions are in French. Generate an English version from the same source when a team works in both. Narration is spoken by a multilingual voice that is told to speak French, or Canadian French when you pick it, and asked for native pronunciation.

How Scholarly handles French

What changes when the output language is French, taken from how the speech and rendering pipeline actually works.

Voice

Narration is spoken by a multilingual voice that is told to speak French, or Canadian French when you pick it, and asked for native pronunciation.

Script and layout

Latin script, left to right. Titles, captions and the transcript are written in French along with the narration.

Variants in the picker

The picker lists French and Canadian French. Choose Canadian French for Quebec vocabulary and spelling in the script and to name Canadian French to the narrator.

Check before you share

Terms differ between France and Quebec. Pick the entry that matches your audience and check product and legal terms in the first scenes.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can my source be in English and the output in French?

Yes. The source and the output do not have to share a language. Upload an English PDF, deck or recording, set the output language to French in the creation panel, and the script, text and narration are written in French. Leave the setting on Auto and Scholarly follows the language of the source instead.

Does it support Canadian French?

Yes. Canadian French is its own entry in the picker: the script follows Quebec vocabulary and spelling, and the narrator is told to speak Canadian French.

Can I make a training video in French for free?

Yes, once. The Free plan includes one lifetime AI Creation Credit, which renders a roughly 2-minute French module at up to 720p, enough to judge it on a real procedure. Paid plans add longer modules, 1080p and MP4 export.

Does it use an avatar or a presenter?

No. Scholarly makes narrated scenes with diagrams and on-screen steps, not a synthetic presenter, and it does not lip-sync a face. If a talking head is a requirement, an avatar tool is the better fit. On a paid Teams plan you can see who on your team finished a shared module and how they did on its questions; Scholarly does not assign training or issue certificates, so keep those in your LMS.

Is Scholarly's interface available in French?

Yes. Scholarly's interface is available in French: choose ⁨Français⁩ as your app language in Settings › Appearance › App language, and new accounts open in it when your browser asks for it. What you create has its own output language: pick French once as your default in Settings, or per creation in the language row of the creation panel.
