Direct answer
Can AI turn a document into a podcast in French?
Yes. Upload the document, set the output language to French, and Scholarly scripts a conversation between a host, a producer and a guest from your source. All three speak French, and the transcript and captions follow the episode language.
- Free plan: One lifetime AI Creation Credit and one upload (up to 8 MB; the first 32 pages of a PDF are read), enough for one French episode of about 2 minutes, streamed and shared by link. MP3 and MP4 downloads are paid. No credit card.
- Paid plans: Premium ($30/mo in US dollars, lower local prices in some countries) includes 15 AI Creation Credits a week, up to 10 sources per episode, episodes up to 60 minutes and MP3 and MP4 downloads. An episode over 15 minutes costs 1 extra credit, over 30 minutes 2. Laureate ($99/mo) includes 80 credits a week.
- What goes in: PDFs, notes, slide decks, website links, YouTube videos and recordings. One source on Free, up to 10 per episode on Premium and 20 on Laureate.
- What comes out: A three-speaker episode with chapters, a clickable transcript and page-level citations, plus a chapter-slide video mode.
- How French is handled: Every voice is multilingual and follows French. The source can stay in English; the conversation is written in French. Narration is spoken by a multilingual voice that is told to speak French, or Canadian French when you pick it, and asked for native pronunciation.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can my source be in English and the output in French?
Yes. The source and the output do not have to share a language. Upload an English PDF, deck or recording, set the output language to French in the creation panel, and the script, text and narration are written in French. Leave the setting on Auto and Scholarly follows the language of the source instead.
Does it support Canadian French?
Yes. Canadian French is its own entry in the picker: the script follows Quebec vocabulary and spelling, and the narrator is told to speak Canadian French.
Is the French AI podcast generator free?
You can make one episode free: the Free plan includes one lifetime AI Creation Credit, which makes an episode of about 2 minutes in French. Premium includes 15 AI Creation Credits a week, episodes up to 60 minutes and MP3 downloads.
Can I download the French episode as an MP3?
On a paid plan, yes. Premium and Laureate download the episode as an MP3 for podcast apps or as an MP4 of the chapter-slide video. On Free you can stream it in Scholarly and share it by view link.
Is Scholarly's interface available in French?
Yes. Scholarly's interface is available in French: choose Français as your app language in Settings › Appearance › App language, and new accounts open in it when your browser asks for it. What you create has its own output language: pick French once as your default in Settings, or per creation in the language row of the creation panel.
