Direct answer
How do I make a training video in German from an SOP?
Upload the SOP, policy or handbook, set the output language to German, and Scholarly scripts a narrated, chaptered module from those files only, keeping your step order. Viewers watch in a browser with German captions and a searchable transcript.
- Free plan: One lifetime AI Creation Credit and one upload (up to 8 MB; the first 32 pages of a PDF are read), enough for one German module of about 2 minutes at up to 720p, with Scholarly branding, shared by link. MP4 export is paid. No credit card.
- Paid plans: Premium includes 15 AI Creation Credits a week, up to 10 sources per module, 1080p, target lengths up to 45 minutes and watermark-free MP4 export. A module over 15 minutes costs 1 extra credit, over 30 minutes 2. Scholarly Teams adds a shared library and roles.
- What goes in: SOPs, policy PDFs, onboarding handbooks, product guides, enablement decks and recorded walkthroughs. Up to 10 files per module on Premium, 20 on Laureate.
- What comes out: A narrated training module with a chapter per stage, captions and a transcript. Paid plans export a watermark-free MP4 for an LMS, intranet or wiki.
- How German is handled: Narration, on-screen steps and captions are in German. Generate an English version from the same source when a team works in both. Narration is spoken by a multilingual voice that is told to speak German instead of guessing the language from the text, and asked to read numbers and units the way a native speaker says them.

How Scholarly handles German
What changes when the output language is German, taken from how the speech and rendering pipeline actually works.
Voice
Narration is spoken by a multilingual voice that is told to speak German instead of guessing the language from the text, and asked to read numbers and units the way a native speaker says them.
Script and layout
Latin script, left to right, including umlauts and ß. Titles, captions and the transcript are written in German along with the narration.
Variants in the picker
The picker lists German, Austrian German and Swiss German. The variant shapes the written script and is also named to the narrator, so listen to the first minute if you need standard German throughout.
Check before you share
Decide between Sie and du before you generate and say so in the instructions, so the whole module uses one form of address.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can my source be in English and the output in German?
Yes. The source and the output do not have to share a language. Upload an English PDF, deck or recording, set the output language to German in the creation panel, and the script, text and narration are written in German. Leave the setting on Auto and Scholarly follows the language of the source instead.
Can I choose between formal and informal German?
Yes. Add a short instruction such as "address the viewer as Sie" or "use du" when you create, and the script follows it throughout.
Can I make a training video in German for free?
Yes, once. The Free plan includes one lifetime AI Creation Credit, which renders a roughly 2-minute German module at up to 720p, enough to judge it on a real procedure. Paid plans add longer modules, 1080p and MP4 export.
Does it use an avatar or a presenter?
No. Scholarly makes narrated scenes with diagrams and on-screen steps, not a synthetic presenter, and it does not lip-sync a face. If a talking head is a requirement, an avatar tool is the better fit. On a paid Teams plan you can see who on your team finished a shared module and how they did on its questions; Scholarly does not assign training or issue certificates, so keep those in your LMS.
Is Scholarly's interface available in German?
Yes. Scholarly's interface is available in German: choose Deutsch as your app language in Settings › Appearance › App language, and new accounts open in it when your browser asks for it. What you create has its own output language: pick German once as your default in Settings, or per creation in the language row of the creation panel.
