Colossyan or Scholarly: Which Should You Pick?

Both turn documents into training video. They differ on avatars, LMS tracking, and length.

Better pick

Better pick
Colossyan
Why

Comparing tools for a whole team?

Scholarly Teams puts your team, class, lab, or company on one Premium or Laureate plan — the chosen access for every member, all built from your shared material.

Where Colossyan Still Shines

Colossyan is a great tool with real strengths worth acknowledging.

Built for LMS-tracked training

Professional includes 5 SCORM exports a month, and the document-to-video flow lists SCORM and xAPI output, so completions can be tracked in your LMS. Scholarly has no SCORM or xAPI.

Avatars, voices, and languages

Per Colossyan's pricing page, every plan includes 300+ stock avatars, 700+ voices, 120+ languages, and voice clones.

Branching and cited scenes

Interactive quizzes and branching scenarios are built in, and its document-to-video flow cites the source section behind each scene.

Where Scholarly Fits Better

Up to 45 minutes in one lecture

Set any length up to 45 minutes on Premium or Laureate. Colossyan's free Starter plan caps a video at 20 minutes, and its plans meter video minutes each month.

No avatar, by design

Narrated visuals built from your material: step sequences, comparisons, callouts, charts, and the figures from your PDF, with nothing for learners to tune out.

Checkpoints in every video

Every lecture asks questions during playback, and you can generate a separate quiz, exam, or flashcards from the same source. They are not a monthly quota.

Use my script as written

When the wording is approved, the narrator keeps your source's wording and order instead of writing a new script.

More than video from one source

The same upload becomes slides, an SOP, a podcast, a study guide, or an AI chat that answers from the document.

A team library without an LMS

Scholarly Teams keeps sources and videos in one shared library with Owner, Admin, and Member roles and one bill.

How Scholarly Works

Step 1: Upload the document

A PDF, Word file, PowerPoint deck, or your own script. Pick the pages this video should cover.

Step 2: Generate the lecture

Choose a length (up to 45 minutes on paid plans), a language, and a voice. Scholarly writes the narration from your pages and adds chapters, captions, and question checkpoints.

Step 3: Review and share

Read the transcript against the source, then share a link, add it to your team library, or download the MP4 and captions on a paid plan.

Scholarly vs Colossyan: A Closer Look

Colossyan is a strong choice for L&D teams that live in an LMS. Per its pricing page on October 22, 2026, the free Starter plan includes 20 minutes of video a month with a 20-minute cap per video and a watermark; Professional is $59 a month billed yearly with 30 minutes a month and 5 SCORM exports; Enterprise is custom. Its document-to-video flow accepts Word, PDF (including scans), PowerPoint, and text files, and exports MP4 up to 1080p with SRT and VTT captions.

Scholarly takes the same documents in a different direction: no avatar, and a lecture planned to the length you pick, up to 45 minutes. Each video has chapters, synced captions, a searchable transcript, and question checkpoints, and the same source produces a quiz, flashcards, slides, or a podcast.

Pick Colossyan when SCORM tracking, branching, or an avatar is a requirement. Pick Scholarly when you want longer narrated modules from manuals and decks, a knowledge check from the same file, and a team library without an LMS.
