AI File Creator

Turn your sources into downloadable files

Describe the file you need and Scholarly picks the right format — an Excel workbook, a CSV table, a JSON export, a Markdown document, or a calendar file — built from your own PDFs, notes, and the AI Meeting Notes from your recordings.

Free to start. No credit card required.

Describe what you want — the AI picks the format
  1. 1

"Turn this syllabus into a semester calendar"

The creator recognizes date-shaped work and produces a calendar file you can import into Google Calendar or Outlook.

  2. 2

"Make a comparison table of these papers"

Tabular requests become a real Excel workbook or CSV — with columns and rows drawn from your sources.

  3. 3

"Export the key terms as JSON"

Structured-data requests come out as clean JSON or Markdown, ready to use in other tools.

How it works

From source to file in three steps

One creator for every downloadable format — describe the output or start from a format tile directly.

01

Add your sources

Upload PDFs, slides, notes, or websites — including the AI Meeting Notes generated from your recordings — and the file is built from your material.

02

Describe the file you need

Say what you want in plain language and the AI picks the format — or choose Excel, CSV, JSON, Markdown, or calendar directly.

03

Download and use it

Get a real file — an .xlsx workbook, a CSV, a JSON export, a Markdown doc, or an importable calendar — ready to open anywhere.

Formats

Five formats, one creator

Each format produces a genuine file, not a text dump you have to reformat.

Excel workbooks

Real editable .xlsx files with multiple sheets and working formulas — the AI Spreadsheet Generator lives inside this creator.

CSV tables

Clean tabular data extracted from your sources, ready for any spreadsheet tool or import pipeline.

JSON exports

Structured data drawn from your material — useful for handing off to scripts, apps, and other tools.

Markdown documents

Portable, plain-text documents that drop straight into Notion, Obsidian, GitHub, or any editor.

Calendar files

Turn a syllabus, schedule, or plan into an importable calendar file for Google Calendar, Outlook, or Apple Calendar.

Format picked for you

Not sure which format fits? Describe the outcome you want and the creator chooses the right one.

Why it matters

Real files, grounded in your real material

Chatbots answer in prose, and turning that prose into a usable spreadsheet or calendar is manual work. The AI File Creator skips that step: you describe the outcome and get the actual file.

Because it reads your uploaded sources, the rows, events, and fields come from your material — a syllabus becomes your semester calendar, a set of papers becomes your comparison table.

Every format is a standard, portable file. Nothing is locked in: open the workbook in Excel, import the calendar anywhere, and drop the Markdown into your notes app.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What file formats can the AI File Creator produce?

Excel workbooks (.xlsx), CSV tables, JSON exports, Markdown documents, and calendar files. You can pick a format directly or describe what you want and let the creator choose.

Is the AI File Creator free?

Scholarly is free to start: the free plan includes one lifetime AI Creation Credit, which can be a file. Paid plans lift the creation and upload limits. Current details are always on the pricing page.

How does this relate to the AI Spreadsheet Generator?

The AI Spreadsheet Generator is unchanged and available as a tile inside the AI File Creator — spreadsheet requests use the same engine, and the other formats extend it.

Does it work from my own documents?

Yes. Add PDFs, slides, notes, websites, or the AI notes from a recording and the file is built from that material — or describe what you need from scratch.

Your questions, answered

Is Scholarly free to use?

Yes! The free plan includes core study tools with lifetime allowances: 3 AI Chat messages, 500 autocomplete words, 5 quiz questions, 15 voice minutes, 1 practice exam, one free AI Creation Credit total, and 1 file upload. These allowances do not reset. Upgrade to Premium for 10 AI Creation Credits per week and unlimited uploads.

What uses my free AI Creation Credits?

AI Creation Credits are shared across flashcards, podcasts, videos, slides, AI Documents, Deep Research, and the Transcribe tool. The selected model determines the credit cost. Recording live audio and saving its transcript uses your file upload allowance instead; it does not use AI Creation Credits.

Can I cancel anytime?

Absolutely. There are no contracts or commitments. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings, and you'll keep access until the end of your billing period.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards through Stripe. Pricing is displayed in USD by default, but local currency is available in the app.

Can I use Scholarly with a class or school?

Yes. For a school or organization-wide rollout, contact us at hello@scholarly.so and we'll help you find the right setup.

What happens when I hit a free plan limit?

You'll see a prompt to upgrade. Your existing work is never lost — limits only apply to new actions. Free-plan allowances are lifetime credits and do not reset. Premium includes 10 AI Creation Credits per week, podcasts up to 60 minutes, video lectures up to 45 minutes, unlimited uploads, chat, autocomplete, quizzes, and exams, plus more daily voice time.
