Turn SOPs and workflows into 3D process models
Open the SOP or procedure as a PDF, and Scholarly's AI builds a labelled 3D model of the process, with stages, owners, and handoffs from your document, ready to export into onboarding slides and training videos.
Beta. A full AI build uses 1 AI Creation Credit, and you confirm it first. Small chat edits are free.

Quick answer
Why visualize a process in 3D?
Updated October 2026 · 3D models are in Beta
Because people learn a process faster when they can see where each step happens and who hands off to whom. Scholarly's AI reads your SOP or workflow PDF and writes a 3D model of it as real three.js code, with each stage labelled from the document, grouped by team, system, or location, and animated where movement helps. You preview the draft and apply it, then export it for a deck or a video. It is an explainer for training, not a process-mining or BPMN tool.
SOPs are written as numbered lists, but processes aren't flat. Steps happen in different departments, systems, or physical places: a sterile processing room, a warehouse floor, a service bay. The hard part for a new hire is the handoffs. A 3D process model puts each stage where it belongs, so the handoffs are visible.
Built from the actual document. The AI reads your SOP, takes stage names and owners from it, and builds the model from those, so the training matches the procedure people are expected to follow. When a step is renamed, change the label's wording in chat for free instead of redrawing a diagram.
It goes where your training already lives. On a paid plan, export a 4K or transparent PNG for an onboarding deck, an 8-second 1080p turntable MP4 for a training video, or a .glb that opens in PowerPoint and Keynote. The same SOP PDF can also become a narrated training video, a quiz, or flashcards for the critical steps in Scholarly.
How it works
From SOP to 3D process model
Your procedure, modelled in 3D, with you approving the draft before it's applied.
- 01
Open your SOP or process PDF
Export the procedure as a PDF and open it; its first pages appear in 3D. Or start empty and describe the steps in chat.
- 02
Ask for a process model
Say how to group the steps, by team, system, or location, and confirm the build, which uses 1 AI Creation Credit.
- 03
The AI builds the model
Over a few minutes it writes the model in three.js, with a station for each stage and owners and handoffs labelled.
- 04
Preview, apply, export
A process owner previews the draft and applies it or keeps the current model, then exports it for slides or video on a paid plan.
Use cases
Processes worth seeing in 3D
Procedures with handoffs, stations, equipment, or several teams.
Employee onboarding
Show new hires how work moves between teams in their first week.
Clinical and lab procedures
Sterile processing, specimen handling, or equipment setup, with each station in place.
Customer support workflows
Ticket paths from intake to resolution, with the escalation points marked.
Trades and field service
Install, inspection, or maintenance steps around the equipment a technician works on.
Compliance procedures
Approval chains and the checkpoints a regulated process requires.
IT and software delivery
Code or a request moving through each pipeline stage and system, from commit to production.
Try asking
Requests for process models
Say how to group the steps and what new hires most need to notice.
Build a 3D model of the process in this SOP, one station per step.
Group the steps by department and give each department its own colour.
Label the handoffs between teams.
Highlight the steps the SOP marks as mandatory checks.
Animate an item moving from intake on the left to delivery on the right.
Rename the step 4 label to match the new procedure.
Beta
What it can and can't do today
3D models are in Beta. For process training, here's the scope.
Works today
- Builds from one SOP or process PDF, grounded in its pages, or from steps you describe in chat.
- Labels stages, owners, and checkpoints from your document, with animation where it helps.
- Free small chat edits keep it current; Undo brings back the previous version.
- On paid plans, export a 4K PNG, a transparent PNG, an 8-second 1080p turntable MP4, or a .glb file.
Not supported
- Not CAD-accurate or engineering-grade. Models explain how something works; they are not measured designs.
- No STL or OBJ export, and no 3D printing. Exports are images, a turntable video, and a .glb file.
- No manual 3D editing tools: no sculpting and no dragging parts. You change a model by asking chat.
- A model starts from one PDF or from an empty chat. For notes or slides, save them as a PDF, or describe the content in chat.
- It's a Beta: preview every draft before you apply it, and check the labels before a model goes in front of a team.
For teams
Process training across a team
Scholarly Teams gives a team one shared source library, Owner, Admin, and Member roles, activity reporting, and a single Stripe bill, so everyone builds training from the same SOPs. Premium Teams is $35 per seat per month and Laureate Teams is $110, self-serve for 1 to 29 seats.
3D models are in Beta. Export a process model as a turntable video, an image, or a .glb for the onboarding deck, and turn the same SOP into a training video, a quiz, or flashcards for the rest of the programme.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is this a BPMN or process-mining tool?
No. It doesn't read event logs, simulate throughput, or export BPMN. It builds an explanatory 3D model of a process from your document, for training and onboarding.
Can I use a Word or Google Docs SOP?
Export it as a PDF and open that, or start an empty 3D model and describe the procedure in chat. A model starts from one PDF or an empty chat.
How long a process can one model show?
A model reads best when a viewer can follow it at a glance, roughly 10 to 25 steps. Split a longer procedure into phases, one model per phase.
How do I get the model in front of my team?
Export it on a paid plan: a 4K or transparent PNG for slides, an 8-second 1080p turntable MP4 for a training video, or a .glb that opens in PowerPoint, Keynote, Blender, and web 3D viewers. With Scholarly Teams, the SOPs can sit in a shared source library so everyone builds from the same document.
What does it cost?
Signing up is free. A full build uses 1 AI Creation Credit from your plan, and you confirm it first. Small chat edits are free and appear on an approval card. Exports need a paid plan. Team seats draw on their plan's credits, and Owners and Admins can add more on the team bill.
What else can I make from the same SOP?
A narrated training video, a quiz, flashcards, or a step-by-step study guide, all from the same PDF in Scholarly.
