How it works

From source to study deck in three steps

No manual typing, no formatting — just accurate cards drawn straight from your material.

01

Step 1: AI Analysis

Upload your content and let our AI flashcards system analyze and understand your study material with advanced machine learning.

02

Step 2: Smart Generation

Our AI flashcards generator creates intelligent study cards with optimal difficulty levels and personalized content for maximum retention.

03

Step 3: Adaptive Learning

Study with AI flashcards that adapt to your progress, focusing on areas where you need the most improvement for efficient learning.

What you get

Flashcards built to make knowledge stick

Every card is grounded in your own source — so you study what's actually testable, not generic filler.

Source-grounded cards

Each card is drawn from your real material, so answers stay accurate and tied to what you need to know.

Concept-first questions

The AI tests your grasp of ideas and relationships — not rote trivia like page numbers or sample sizes.

Any input format

PDFs, lecture notes, textbooks, images, YouTube videos, and websites all become decks.

Spaced repetition

Built-in scheduling resurfaces the cards you keep missing so review time goes where it counts.

Export to Anki & Quizlet

Take your decks anywhere — export in one click and keep studying in the app you already use.

Study in 70+ languages

Generate and study flashcards in your language, from Spanish and French to Mandarin and Japanese.

Why it works

Smarter than typing cards by hand

Writing flashcards manually eats hours you could spend actually studying — and it's easy to copy the wrong detail or skip what really matters. AI flashcards read your source, pull out the key concepts, and write clean question-answer pairs for you in seconds.

Because every card is grounded in your own material, the answers stay correct and relevant to your course — not the generic definitions you'd find in a shared deck. You spend your time recalling, not transcribing.

Pair the cards with active recall and spaced repetition and you get the two study techniques research backs most for long-term retention, without building any of the scheduling yourself.

How it compares

AI Flashcards vs. Quizlet and Anki

Quizlet and Anki are great at parts of studying. Here's where each one shines — and where Scholarly does more.

Quizlet

Great for: huge libraries of shared, ready-made decks and quick study-game modes.

But shared decks are written by strangers — accuracy and depth vary, and they rarely match your exact course.

Making your own deck still means typing every card by hand from scratch.

Anki

Great for: the gold-standard spaced-repetition algorithm and total customization for power users.

But the learning curve is steep, and you still author every card manually.

There's no built-in way to turn a PDF, lecture, or video into cards automatically.

Best for students
Scholarly

Best for: turning your own materials into accurate cards instantly, then studying them right away.

Generates source-grounded cards from PDFs, notes, images, videos, and websites in seconds.

Active recall and spaced repetition are built in — no setup required.
