MCAT Score Release Dates 2026

MCAT scores are released 30-35 days after your test date, by 5:00 p.m. ET on the scheduled release day. If you tested on August 21 or 22, 2026, your scores come out Tuesday, September 22, 2026. The remaining 2026 releases are September 2 (for the July 31 exam), September 15 (August 15), September 22 (August 21-22), October 6 (September 3-4), and October 13 (September 11-12). AAMC publishes the exact release date for every test date in advance, so you never have to guess; the full official table is below. Three patterns worth noticing:

• Every release lands 30-35 days after test day. AAMC's own explanation is that it scales and equates each exam after each test day, and that process takes 30 to 35 days. There is no way to get a score sooner, and no unofficial early release.
• Exams a day apart share a release date. Paired administrations like September 3 and 4 both release on October 6, so a friend who tested a day before you sees their score the same day you do.
• The testing year ends in September. The MCAT is not offered in October through December, so October 13 is the final score release of 2026. If you have not tested yet this year, September 11 or 12 is your last chance until 2027.

What about 2027 MCAT dates?

AAMC has not published the 2027 test dates or score release dates yet. What it has announced: scheduling for 2027 test dates opens October 20-22, 2026, staggered by testing center location, and AAMC is hosting a 2027 MCAT Testing Year Update webinar for examinees on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. If you plan to use the Fee Assistance Program for a 2027 seat, AAMC advises submitting your materials at least five business days before registration opens. Check the official calendar page on students-residents.aamc.org once registration opens for the exact 2027 dates. Do not plan around estimates.

How MCAT scores arrive

There is no email with your score in it. On release day:

1. Sign in through the "Get Your Test Scores" link at testingservices.aamc.org, using the same AAMC account you registered with.
2. Your score is posted in the AAMC Score Reporting System by 5:00 p.m. ET on the release date. Scores post throughout the day, so a blank page in the morning means "not yet," not "missing."
3. Your report shows four section scores, each scaled from 118 (lowest) to 132 (highest): Chemical and Physical Foundations, CARS, Biological and Biochemical Foundations, and Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations. The four sum to a total between 472 and 528.

AAMC describes two systematic ways to share your scores: through the AMCAS application and through the Score Reporting System. AAMC runs both AMCAS and the MCAT, so getting scores into an AMCAS application does not involve a third-party transcript service; for non-AMCAS institutions, the Score Reporting System handles score sends. If you believe a scoring error occurred, AAMC lets you request a hand rescore, though it notes scoring errors are extremely rare. A rescore is not a path to a higher score for a borderline result; it is an audit.

What to do during the 30-35 day wait

The waiting month is dead time only if you let it be. Three uses for it:

• Finish the rest of your application. Your personal statement, activities section, and letters do not depend on your score. Applicants who submit early in the cycle get verified and reviewed earlier; the score joins your file when it releases.
• Build your school list two ways. Sketch the list you would apply to at your practice-exam average, and the list at 4-5 points below it. When the score lands, you execute a plan instead of starting one.
• Keep your materials organized in case of a retake. Do not study (you have no data yet on whether you need to), but keep your content review notes, question-bank error logs, and full-length reviews where you can find them. If a retake becomes the right call, those documents are the raw material for a targeted second prep, and you can turn them into practice exams built from your actual weak areas rather than restarting a generic plan.

Retake timing: read the calendar backward

The 30-35 day lag is the single most important planning constraint, because you should never sit a retake without having seen your first score. Work backward from your application cycle:

• Applying in the 2027 cycle (matriculating 2028)? Any remaining 2026 date works. A September 12, 2026 score releases October 13, months before applications open, and a 2027 retake is still on the table, since scheduling for the full 2027 year opens October 20-22, 2026.
• Already applied this cycle and considering a September retake? A September 3-4 score releases October 6; September 11-12 releases October 13. Many schools review applications on a rolling basis, so a late-arriving score can mean a later review. Weigh whether the likely point gain beats the timing cost, and check each school's policy on when they need scores.
• Deciding whether to retake at all? Compare your section scores against the medians at your target schools before reacting to the total. A 508 with a low CARS section is a different problem from a balanced 508. If one section is clearly the gap, a focused eight-to-twelve-week block on that section is a better plan than another full content review.
