The next MCAT score release is Tuesday, February 16, 2027, for the January 15 and January 16, 2027 exams, by 5:00 p.m. ET. Every 2026 score is already out: the final 2026 release was October 13, for the September 11-12 exams, and the MCAT is not offered in October through December. Registration for all January-September 2027 test dates is now open: it opened October 20-22, 2026, at noon ET, staggered by test center location, and stays open for scheduling any dates that still have seats. MCAT scores are released 30-35 days after your test date, and AAMC publishes the exact release date for every test date in advance; the full official 2027 U.S. table is below, followed by the 2026 dates. Scores appear in the AAMC Score Reporting System, which you reach through the "Get Your Test Scores" link at testingservices.aamc.org.

2027 MCAT test dates and score release dates

These dates come from AAMC's official U.S. MCAT calendar, scheduling deadlines, and score release dates page, checked October 20, 2026 (AAMC publishes a separate calendar for Canadian test sites). The 10-day deadline is the last day to schedule, reschedule, or cancel. Dates marked with an asterisk are offered only at select U.S. testing centers:

2026 MCAT test dates and score release dates (all released)

Every 2026 U.S. administration is listed below, all of them already released, since retakers comparing timelines often need the full-year picture:

Test date (2026) Score release date (2026)
January 9 February 10
January 10 February 10
January 15 February 17
January 23 February 24
February 13 March 17
March 7 April 7
March 20 April 21
April 10 May 12
April 11 May 12
April 24 May 27
April 25 May 27

May 8 June 9
May 9 June 9
May 14 June 16
May 22 June 23
May 30 June 30
June 12 July 14
June 13 July 14
June 26 July 28
June 27 July 28
July 11 August 11
July 24 August 25
July 31 September 2
August 15 September 15
August 21 September 22
August 22 September 22
September 3 October 6
September 4 October 6
September 11 October 13
September 12 October 13

Three patterns worth noticing:

  • Every release lands 30-35 days after test day. AAMC's own explanation is that it scales and equates each exam after each test day, and that process takes 30 to 35 days. There is no way to get a score sooner, and no unofficial early release.
  • Exams a day apart share a release date. Paired administrations like January 15 and 16, 2027 both release on February 16, so a friend who tested a day before you sees their score the same day you do.
  • The testing year ends in September. The MCAT is not offered in October through December, so October 13 was the final score release of 2026 and January 15, 2027 is the next test date. The 2027 calendar follows the same shape: the last test dates are September 10 and 11, 2027, releasing October 12, 2027.

2027 MCAT registration is open

AAMC opened scheduling for the full 2027 calendar above by test center location: Group A (test centers in eastern and southeastern states, plus Michigan and Ohio) on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Group B (most central and western states, including California, Texas, Alaska, and Hawaii) on Wednesday, October 21, and Group C (international test centers, plus Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands) on Thursday, October 22, each at noon ET. Your group was set by test center location, not where you live. AAMC says the registration system stays open for scheduling available dates after opening, so if you missed opening day you can still book, though popular dates and locations fill first. If you plan to use the Fee Assistance Program, you must be approved before you can use the discounted fee.

How MCAT scores arrive

There is no email with your score in it. On release day:

  1. Sign in through the "Get Your Test Scores" link at testingservices.aamc.org, using the same AAMC account you registered with.
  2. Your score is posted in the AAMC Score Reporting System by 5:00 p.m. ET on the release date. Scores post throughout the day, so a blank page in the morning means "not yet," not "missing."
  3. Your report shows four section scores, each scaled from 118 (lowest) to 132 (highest): Chemical and Physical Foundations, CARS, Biological and Biochemical Foundations, and Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations. The four sum to a total between 472 and 528.

AAMC describes two systematic ways to share your scores: through the AMCAS application and through the Score Reporting System. AAMC runs both AMCAS and the MCAT, so getting scores into an AMCAS application does not involve a third-party transcript service; for non-AMCAS institutions, the Score Reporting System handles score sends. The details for each path are in AAMC's MCAT Essentials publication and the Score Reporting System itself.

If you believe a scoring error occurred, AAMC lets you request a hand rescore, though it notes scoring errors are extremely rare. A rescore is not a path to a higher score for a borderline result; it is an audit.

What to do during the 30-35 day wait

The waiting month is dead time only if you let it be. Three uses for it:

  • Finish the rest of your application. Your personal statement, activities section, and letters do not depend on your score. Applicants who submit early in the cycle get verified and reviewed earlier; the score joins your file when it releases.
  • Build your school list two ways. Sketch the list you would apply to at your practice-exam average, and the list at 4-5 points below it. When the score lands, you execute a plan instead of starting one.
  • Keep your materials organized in case of a retake. Do not study (you have no data yet on whether you need to), but keep your content review notes, question-bank error logs, and full-length reviews where you can find them. If a retake becomes the right call, those documents are the raw material for a targeted second prep, and you can turn them into practice exams built from your actual weak areas rather than restarting a generic plan.

Retake timing: read the calendar backward

The 30-35 day lag is the single most important planning constraint, because you should never sit a retake without having seen your first score. Work backward from your application cycle:

  • Applying in the 2027 cycle (matriculating 2028)? Your remaining options are 2027 dates. The earliest, January 15 or 16, releases February 16, 2027, and a May 29 test releases June 29. Scheduling for the full 2027 year opened October 20-22, 2026, so book soon if you need a specific date and location.
  • Already applied this cycle with a September score? September 3-4 scores were released October 6 and September 11-12 scores October 13. Many schools review applications on a rolling basis, so a late-arriving score can mean a later review; check each school's policy on when it needs scores and confirm the new score reached your application.
  • Deciding whether to retake at all? Compare your section scores against the medians at your target schools before reacting to the total. A 508 with a low CARS section is a different problem from a balanced 508. If one section is clearly the gap, a focused eight-to-twelve-week block on that section is a better plan than another full content review.

Missing a score-release day or a registration window is an unforced error, so put the dates somewhere you will actually see them: paste the table above (or your own shortlist of deadlines) into the free AI calendar generator and get an .ics file that drops every registration deadline and score-release date onto your Google or Apple calendar in one import.

Prepping the retake from your own materials

If the score says retake, the second prep should be narrower and more active than the first. That is easier when your practice comes from your own materials instead of another generic question bank. Upload your content-review notes, error logs, and lecture PDFs to Scholarly and turn them into flashcards, timed quizzes, practice exams, and a week-by-week study schedule grounded in what you actually got wrong. If you spent your first prep fighting with pre-made Anki decks, our guide to MCAT Anki deck alternatives covers generating cards from your own sources instead. And for the longer road past the MCAT, the complete pre-med guide from MCAT to medical school maps the rest of the timeline. Once you reach the boards, the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 score release guide covers that wait the same way.
