Comparing tools for a whole team?

Scholarly Teams puts your team, class, lab, or company on one Premium or Laureate plan - the chosen access for every member, all built from your shared material.

Where Claude Still Shines

Claude is a great tool with real strengths worth acknowledging.

Outstanding writing and reasoning

Claude is one of the best assistants for long-form writing, careful editing, nuanced reasoning, and code. If your main job is drafting and revising text with a thoughtful partner, Claude is excellent, and Scholarly does not try to replace it as a writing tool.

Artifacts, file creation, and Projects

Claude can build interactive Artifacts, create and edit files such as documents and decks with code execution, and keep uploaded knowledge in Projects. Those are flexible, general-purpose building blocks for people who like to shape their own outputs.

Anthropic's newest models first

New Claude models and features land in Claude first, and Pro and Max add Research, higher usage, and Claude Code (see Anthropic's pricing page for current rates). If you only ever want Anthropic's models at their newest, go straight to the source.

Why People Switch to Scholarly

Claude is included, next to six other labs

Paid Scholarly plans can pick Claude Opus 5.5, Claude Sonnet 5.5, or Claude Haiku 5.5 in AI Chat, along with GPT 6.1 Sol, Terra, and Luna, Gemini 4 Argon, Grok 4.7, Muse Spark 1.3 and Muse Wonder, Mistral Large 3, and DeepSeek V4.1 Flash. Switch per question or mid-conversation when another model fits the job better.

Your sources, cited to the page

Upload PDFs, slides, recordings, and web pages once. Every chat, quiz, video, and report works from that persistent library and cites the page it used, so you can check an answer against your own material in one click.

Finished artifacts in one step

Claude can help you build almost anything if you ask the right way. Scholarly ships the study formats ready-made: a narrated video lecture of up to 45 minutes, a multi-speaker podcast of up to 60 minutes, a slide deck, a flashcard deck that exports to Anki, or a graded practice exam, each from your sources in one step.

Made for learning, not just answering

Students turn lecture recordings into practice exams, licensure candidates turn a review book into flashcards, and professionals turn a policy or product doc into a short video. The workspace keeps your sources, chats, and artifacts together so you can come back and keep going.

Unlimited chat on every paid plan

Chat on Auto has no message cap on paid plans, with no five-hour session windows to plan around. Claude Opus 5.5 and the other named models draw on a weekly premium chat allowance, and chat keeps answering on Auto when it runs out. AI Creation Credits only meter creation jobs.

Teams on the same product

Scholarly Teams adds a shared source library, Owner/Admin/Member roles, activity reporting, and one bill for 1-29 seats. Comparing Claude's team plans specifically? See Scholarly vs Claude for Teams.

How Scholarly Works

Step 1: Add Your Content

Upload PDFs, paste notes, add images, or link YouTube videos. Any study material works.

Step 2: AI Builds Your Study Materials

Our AI reads your material and turns it into grounded answers, flashcards, quizzes, summaries, and more.

Step 3: Study Your Way

Review with spaced repetition, listen as a podcast, watch as a video lecture, or export to Anki or PDF.

Scholarly vs Claude: A Closer Look

The clearest difference is what each product hands you at the end. Claude is a superb general assistant: it answers, writes, reasons, and can build files and interactive Artifacts when you describe what you want. Scholarly is a source-grounded study workspace: you upload your material, and it hands back a cited answer, a narrated lecture, a podcast, a deck, flashcards, or a graded exam, built for learning from that material.

You do not have to give up Claude to get that. Claude Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5, and Haiku 5.5 are in Scholarly's chat picker on paid plans, next to GPT 6.1 Sol, Gemini 4 Argon, Grok 4.7, Muse, Mistral, and DeepSeek. Ask Claude to explain a hard section of your textbook, then turn that chapter into a practice exam or a video lecture without copying anything between apps.

On price: Claude has a free plan, Pro starts at $17/mo billed yearly ($20 billed monthly), and Max starts at $100/mo as of October 2026 (see Anthropic's pricing page for current rates). Scholarly Premium is $30/mo or $180/yr with 15 weekly AI Creation Credits, and Laureate is $99/mo with 80 credits and four times Premium's premium chat allowance. Teams are $35/seat/mo for Premium for Teams and $110/seat/mo for Laureate for Teams, self-serve for 1-29 seats. If you mainly write, code, or think out loud with one model family, Claude Pro is a great deal. If you want Claude and six other labs working over your own sources and producing study material, that is what Scholarly is for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Scholarly a good Claude alternative?

Yes, if your work starts from your own material and ends in something to study or share. Scholarly includes Claude Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5, and Haiku 5.5 in chat on paid plans, adds models from six other AI labs, cites your uploaded sources to the page, and turns them into video lectures, podcasts, slides, flashcards, and practice exams. If you mainly want a writing and coding partner, Claude remains excellent.

Can I use Claude models inside Scholarly?

Yes. Paid plans can pick Claude Opus 5.5, Claude Sonnet 5.5, or Claude Haiku 5.5 in the AI Chat model picker and switch models mid-conversation. Named models draw on a weekly premium chat allowance; Opus uses it fastest because it costs the most to run. When the allowance runs out, chat keeps answering on Auto until it resets.

Which AI models does Scholarly include?

AI Chat has two modes: Auto (GPT 6 Luna, unlimited on paid plans) and Best (GPT 6.1 Sol). Paid plans can also pick a model by name: GPT 6.1 Sol, Terra, and Luna, Claude Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5, and Haiku 5.5, Gemini 4 Argon, Grok 4.7, Muse Spark 1.3 and Muse Wonder, Mistral Large 3, and DeepSeek V4.1 Flash. Named models and Best draw on a weekly premium chat allowance; when it runs out, chat keeps answering on Auto until it resets. The free plan chats on Auto. Chat never spends an AI Creation Credit.

Is Scholarly's AI chat really unlimited?

On paid plans, chat on Auto has no message cap. Best and the named models, including Claude and Grok, use a weekly premium chat allowance and fall back to Auto when it runs out. Weekly AI Creation Credits meter creation jobs such as video lectures, podcasts, and slide decks, never chat. The free plan is a trial: 3 lifetime chat messages on Auto, 1 lifetime AI Creation Credit, and 1 lifetime upload.

Claude has Projects. How is Scholarly different?

Claude Projects keep uploaded knowledge for your chats, which is useful. Scholarly's library goes further for studying: answers cite the page in your file, and the same sources become narrated video lectures, podcasts, slide decks, flashcards with Anki export, and graded practice exams in one step, with any of seven AI labs doing the work.

How much does Scholarly cost compared to Claude?

Scholarly Premium is $30/mo or $180/yr with 15 weekly AI Creation Credits, and Laureate is $99/mo with 80 credits and four times Premium's premium chat allowance. Teams are $35/seat/mo for Premium for Teams and $110/seat/mo for Laureate for Teams, self-serve for 1-29 seats. Claude has a free plan, Pro starts at $17/mo billed yearly ($20 billed monthly), and Max starts at $100/mo as of October 2026 (see Anthropic's pricing page for current rates). Scholarly costs more than Claude Pro because it bundles models from seven labs plus artifact creation from your files.

Is there a separate comparison for Claude team plans?

Yes. This page compares Scholarly with Claude for individuals. For Claude Team seats compared with Scholarly Teams, shared source libraries, and training artifacts, see Scholarly vs Claude for Teams.
