December 2025 was one of our biggest months yet. We launched Exams, added GPT 5.2, redesigned PDF study guides, rebuilt the home page experience, introduced inline quizzes to flashcards, and shipped a massive number of bug fixes and stability improvements. Here's the full breakdown.

Exams

OpenAI's latest and most capable model is now available in Scholarly:

Redesigned PDF Study Guides
Study guides got a complete overhaul:
- Now generates focused, scannable content with key concepts and important terms.
- Exam-focused sections instead of chart-heavy summaries.
- Much more useful for actual studying.
Inline Quiz System
A new inline quiz experience built directly into flashcard normal mode:
- Answer quiz questions while browsing your flashcards.
- "Flip Card" and "More Questions" buttons after answering.
- Hints appear in a dropdown instead of inline collapse.
- Retry questions freely — reopening shows a random question each time.
- Progress synced to your account.
- Available for paid users.
Home Page & Navigation
Redesigned Home Page
A fresh new look for your dashboard:
- New compact list view for recent content — toggle between list and grid views (preference saved automatically).
- "Add to Folder" option in the right-click menu with a hover submenu for quick folder selection.
- Folder color picker uses a cleaner hover submenu.
Session Stats & Study Tools
New tools to track your study sessions:
- Live session timer and cards-studied count visible while studying.
- "Continue Studying" card on home page to resume your last session.
- Keyboard shortcuts modal — see all available hotkeys during study.
- End-of-session summary now shows "Cards you reviewed multiple times."
- Press 'H' while studying to mark a card as hard for focused review.
- Trophy button appears at the last card to complete the deck.
Flashcard & Quiz Improvements
- Significantly improved flashcard generation quality — better accuracy and fewer hallucinations.
- Improved flashcard generation for larger PDFs.
- Fixed flashcard generation producing too few cards — AI now processes every page.
- Improved flashcard animations and designs.
- Flashcard chat is now faster and more responsive.
- GPT 4.1 Mini replaces GPT 5 Mini as the default free model for better quality.
- Completion screen shows question count with retention messaging.
- Redesigned controls with a cleaner single-row layout.
- Quiz teaser now appears on both question and answer sides.
- Added "Why?" button to quiz teaser for better explanations.
