Grok 4.6 Comes to Scholarly

Scholarly now supports Grok 4.6 from xAI across the workflows where strong, agentic generation matters most.

Grok 4.6 replaces Grok 4.5 in the model catalog. If you had a saved Grok 4.5 or Grok 4.3 selection, Scholarly routes that choice to Grok 4.6 automatically — no need to restart chats or re-pick the model in old create flows.

Grok 4.6 is a recommended Frontier model: Laureate can select it by name with weekly Frontier Boosts, and eligible Enterprise workspaces use it under workspace policy. Auto itself stays on GPT 5.6 Luna unless you pick Grok (or another named model) yourself.

Where You Can Use It

AI Chat. Open the model menu and choose Grok 4.6 under recommended Frontier models. Thinking is always on for this model (no Instant / off mode) — Grok 4.6 reasons before it answers.

AI Video Lectures, AI Slides, Infographics, and Research. Grok 4.6 is selectable wherever those tools offer named models. It is a strong pick for bold, detail-rich output grounded in your PDFs and notes.

Flashcards keep their focused lineup and do not offer Grok.

Why It Matters

Generate-with-AI work is multi-step: read sources, plan structure, write content, call tools, and revise. Grok 4.6 is built for that loop — long context, parallel tool use, and solid reasoning depth.

In practice that means:

  • Clearer slide structure from dense PDFs and textbooks.
  • Video lectures with tighter narrative arcs and better source coverage.
  • Infographics that stay closer to your material.
  • Research and chat that can hold more of a paper or course pack in working memory.

You still pick the model when you want control. Auto stays on Luna unless you choose otherwise.

What Happens to Grok 4.5?

Grok 4.5 is retired from the live catalog. Saved selections continue to work and resolve to Grok 4.6. Older release notes and blog posts may still mention Grok 4.5 because they describe what shipped at that time.

Pricing

Grok 4.6 is a Frontier model on Laureate and eligible Enterprise workspaces. Free and Premium users can see it in the picker with a lock badge, and keep using the models their plan includes.

How to Try It

  1. Open Scholarly, start a chat, and pick Grok 4.6 from the model menu.
  2. Or create AI Slides, an AI Video Lecture, an infographic, or a research run and choose Grok 4.6 from the same model picker.

If something feels off for your subject, swap models in the same picker. Scholarly keeps your sources, library, and artifacts in one place either way.
