Grok 4.5 is Live on Scholarly
xAI's Grok 4.5 is now available on Scholarly — replacing Grok 4.3, and becoming the default model for paid users across create-with-AI tools.
Grok 4.5 Comes to Scholarly
Scholarly now supports Grok 4.5 from xAI across the workflows where strong, agentic generation matters most.
Grok 4.5 replaces Grok 4.3 in the model catalog. If you had a saved Grok 4.3 selection, Scholarly routes that choice to Grok 4.5 automatically — no need to restart chats or re-pick the model in old create flows.
Grok 4.5 is the default model for AI Video Lectures on every plan and for AI Slides, Infographics, and Research on paid plans. Flashcards use a focused Google lineup instead: Gemini 3.5 Flash Lite by default, with Gemini 3 Flash Preview as the only alternative.
Where You Can Use It
AI Chat. Open the model menu and choose Grok 4.5 under recommended premium models. Thinking is always on for this model (no Instant / off mode) — Grok 4.5 reasons before it answers.
AI Video Lectures. On Plus, Ultimate, and Teams, new video lectures default to Grok 4.5. You can still pick Gemini, GPT Mini, or other recommended models when you want a different style or cost profile.
AI Slides. Paid users get Grok 4.5 as the default for new decks. It's a strong pick for bold, detail-rich layouts grounded in your PDFs and notes.
Infographics and Research. Same paid default. Grok 4.5 is selectable (and pre-selected on paid) whenever you create these artifacts from your sources.
Why It Matters
Generate-with-AI work is multi-step: read sources, plan structure, write content, call tools, and revise. Grok 4.5 is built for that loop — long context, parallel tool use, and solid reasoning depth.
In practice that means:
- Clearer slide structure from dense PDFs and textbooks.
- Video lectures with tighter narrative arcs and better source coverage.
- Infographics that stay closer to your material.
- Research and chat that can hold more of a paper or course pack in working memory.
You still pick the model when you want control. The defaults just start from a stronger place on paid plans.
What Happens to Grok 4.3?
Grok 4.3 is retired from the live catalog. Saved selections continue to work and resolve to Grok 4.5. Older release notes and blog posts may still mention Grok 4.3 because they describe what shipped at that time.
Pricing
Grok 4.5 is available on paid plans (Plus, Ultimate, and Teams). Free users can see premium models in the picker with a lock badge, and keep using free defaults for everyday creations.
How to Try It
- Open Scholarly, start a chat, and pick Grok 4.5 from the model menu.
- Or create AI Slides, an AI Video Lecture, an infographic, or a research run — Grok 4.5 is already selected wherever it is the default for your plan.
If something feels off for your subject, swap models in the same picker. Scholarly keeps your sources, library, and artifacts in one place either way.
