In December 2024, Scholarly continued its commitment to enhancing the platform with a series of important updates focused on improving AI capabilities, system stability, and user experience. From major audio system improvements to enhanced PDF analysis and sharing features, these updates reflect our ongoing dedication to providing the best possible tools for your educational journey.


Major Features

AI System Migration

We've successfully migrated a large portion of our AI capabilities to a new system that significantly reduces bugs and errors. The migration included critical features such as:

  • PDF/Image/Text to Flashcards conversion
  • Flashcard title generation
  • Quiz question generation This upgrade has resulted in more reliable and consistent AI-powered features across the platform.

Audio System Overhaul

A significant upgrade to our audio system brought several improvements:

  • Implemented message interruption capability, allowing users to stop the assistant mid-message
  • Introduced audio streaming for faster playback, up to 100x faster in some cases
  • Enhanced audio quality and responsiveness across all audio-related features
  • Unified audio system preventing multiple audio streams from playing simultaneously

Folders Implementation

The introduction of folders brought new organization capabilities:

  • Create and customize folders with different colors for better content organization
  • Double-click folder names in the sidebar for quick editing
  • Part 1 of a larger folders feature rollout, with automated agentic features planned for future updates

Improvements

PDF and Flashcard Enhancements

  • Improved PDF to Flashcards conversion quality
  • Enhanced PDF analysis with better content extraction
  • Fixed various issues with PDF rendering and analysis
  • Implemented better handling of empty PDFs and invalid file uploads
