Complete Anatomy Alternative for Models of Your Own Course

Complete Anatomy is a full 3D anatomy atlas with virtual dissection, radiology, and courses. Scholarly is not an atlas: it builds labelled, illustrative 3D teaching models from your lecture notes, slides, PDFs, or recordings, in your course's words, next to flashcards, quizzes, and video lectures from the same material.

Comparing tools for a whole team?

Scholarly Teams puts your team, class, lab, or company on one Premium or Laureate plan - the chosen access for every member, all built from your shared material.

Where Complete Anatomy Still Shines

Complete Anatomy is a great tool with real strengths worth acknowledging.

A deep, curated atlas

Complete Anatomy lists thousands of structures in layers across 12 systems, an atlas inspired by Gray's with 700+ dissections and prosections, and over 1,500 videos. Scholarly has no library like this.

Dissection and radiology

Its virtual dissection tools cut through layers on iPad, Mac, and Windows, and radiographs, CTs, and MRIs link to the 3D model.

Often provided by your school

It sells Institutional plans with presentation licences and lecture recording. Many programmes license it, so check with your school before you buy.

Where Scholarly Fits Better

Built from your lecture

Add your notes, slides, PDFs, recordings, or a website (1 to 20 sources, depending on plan), or start empty and describe the structure in chat.

Your course's words

Labels come from your material, and you can reword any label in chat. Small edits like that are free.

Next to the rest of your study set

Make flashcards, a quiz, or a narrated video lecture from the same notes the model came from.

In the browser, from any chat

No app to install. Ask for a model in the middle of a chat and turn it right there.

Clear credit cost

A full build uses 1 AI Creation Credit, and you confirm it before it starts. Builds come back as a draft you preview before applying.

Exports for slides and teaching

On paid plans, export a 4K PNG, a transparent PNG, an 8-second 1080p turntable MP4, or a .glb file.

How Scholarly Works

Step 1: Add your source or describe it

Pick notes, a PDF, slides, a website, or a recording from your library, or start empty and describe the model in chat.

Step 2: Scholarly builds the model

You confirm the AI Creation Credit first. In a few minutes the AI builds an interactive 3D model with labels taken from your material.

Step 3: Refine, then use it

Ask chat for free small edits, turn and zoom the model in your browser, and on a paid plan export a PNG, a turntable MP4, or a .glb file.

Scholarly vs Complete Anatomy: A Closer Look

Complete Anatomy, from 3D4Medical, calls itself a 3D anatomy platform. Per its site in November 2026, it includes gross anatomy models with thousands of structures across 12 systems, an atlas inspired by Gray's with 700+ Screens, virtual dissection, radiology linked to the model, and over 1,500 videos. Its store lists a Student plan at $39.99 for the first year (then full price) and Professional at $99.99 a year, with a 3-day free trial.

Scholarly is not a replacement for that atlas. It builds an illustrative 3D teaching model of what your own notes, slides, or PDF explain, with labels in your course's terms, and the same source also makes flashcards, quizzes, and video lectures. Models are in Beta and are not validated anatomy: check every label against your atlas or instructor.

If your school already provides Complete Anatomy, keep using it for dissection and reference. Add Scholarly when you want a model of this week's lecture, in your instructor's words, next to the cards and quiz you will study from.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best Complete Anatomy alternative for studying my own lectures?

If you want a model of what your course teaches, Scholarly: add your lecture notes, slides, or PDF, describe the structure, and confirm 1 AI Creation Credit. You get a labelled 3D teaching model plus flashcards and quizzes from the same material. For dissection, radiology, and a full atlas, Complete Anatomy is the better fit.

Does my school already give me Complete Anatomy?

It might. Complete Anatomy sells Institutional plans, and many universities license it for their students. Ask your programme or library before you buy a personal plan.

Is Scholarly an anatomy atlas?

No. Scholarly has no curated anatomy library and no virtual dissection. It builds illustrative teaching models on request, so check every label against your atlas or instructor.

Can I use Scholarly models for diagnosis or patient care?

No. They are generic, illustrative teaching models, not patient anatomy, and they are not measured. Scholarly does not read DICOM, CT, or MRI files. Don't use the models for diagnosis, procedure planning, or clinical decisions.

Can I put a Scholarly model in my slides?

Yes. On a paid plan, export a 4K or transparent PNG, an 8-second 1080p turntable MP4, or a .glb file. STL, OBJ, and 3D printing are not supported.

How much does Scholarly cost?

Scholarly is free to start. A full model build uses 1 AI Creation Credit, and small chat edits such as rewording a label are free. Exports need a paid plan; prices for your country are in the plans below.

Build a Model from Your Next Lecture

Add your notes, slides, or PDF, describe the structure, and confirm the build. Then make flashcards or a quiz from the same source.
