Cycle Flashcards
Study
What is photosynthesis?
Photosynthesis is the process by which plants, algae, and certain microorganisms convert light energy from the sun into chemical energy in the form of organic compounds, especially sugar.
What happens during the light-dependent reactions?
Pigment molecules such as chlorophyll absorb light energy, which is then converted to chemical energy and stored in ATP and NADPH molecules.
What is the Calvin Cycle?
The Calvin Cycle, also known as the light-independent reactions, uses the ATP and NADPH from the first stage to synthesize organic compounds that the plant can use as a source of energy.

Cell Division
Study
What is the main reason for the production of new cells?
To replace old or damaged cells and for growth
What is the difference between cell division in prokaryotes and eukaryotes?
Prokaryotes divide through binary fission, while eukaryotes undergo mitosis or meiosis
What is the origin of all cells?
All cells are derived from pre-existing cells
