Both vessels carry blood into the right atrium.

Step 2: Movement to the Right Ventricle

From the right atrium, blood flows through the tricuspid valve into the right ventricle.

Step 3: Blood Travels to the Lungs

The right ventricle pumps the blood through the pulmonary artery to the lungs.

In the lungs, carbon dioxide is removed and oxygen is absorbed.

Step 4: Return of Oxygenated Blood

Oxygen-rich blood returns to the heart through the pulmonary veins and enters the left atrium.

Step 5: Movement to the Left Ventricle

Blood flows from the left atrium through the mitral (bicuspid) valve into the left ventricle.

Step 6: Distribution to the Body

The left ventricle pumps oxygenated blood through the aorta to the entire body.
