Here are solid TEAS study materials (free + paid) and a simple way to use them, organized by what actually helps most on the exam.

Best official / closest-to-the-test materials

  • ATI TEAS SmartPrep (official): Most “on-format” questions + good analytics; great if you’re short on time and want targeted practice.
  • ATI TEAS Practice Assessments A & B (official): Two full-length practice tests that match style/difficulty best.
  • ATI TEAS Study Manual (official): Good for content review aligned to the test blueprint.

High-quality free materials (content review + practice)

  • Khan Academy: Excellent for Math (fractions, ratios, percentages, linear equations) and Science foundations (basic bio/chem).
  • Quizlet (careful with quality): Useful for quick vocab refresh (anatomy terms, chemistry basics), but don’t rely on it for accuracy unless it’s from a trusted creator.
  • Public library resources: Many libraries give free access to LearningExpress or test prep books online—worth checking.

Paid but popular (often strong explanations)

  • Mometrix TEAS Secrets + practice questions: Clear explanations; good if you want a structured book.
  • NurseHub / Bootcamp-style TEAS prep: Good for schedules + lots of questions; varies by person, but helpful if you need accountability.
  • McGraw-Hill / Kaplan TEAS prep books: Solid general prep with practice sets.

What to study (high yield by section)

  1. Reading: main idea, author’s purpose, inference, tone, integrating info from passages/graphs.
  2. Math: fractions/decimals/percents, ratios & proportions, order of operations, basic algebra, word problems, simple geometry + unit conversions.
  3. Science (biggest content load): human anatomy/physiology (especially body systems), basic biology (cells/genetics), basic chemistry (atoms/bonding/pH), scientific reasoning/experimental design.
  4. English & Language Usage: punctuation, sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, pronouns, commonly confused words, spelling, combining sentences.

The most effective way to use materials (quick plan)

  • Step 1 (Diagnose): Take one full practice test early (timed).
  • Step 2 (Target): Spend most time on your lowest 1–2 sections, using content review only to fix what you missed.
  • Step 3 (Practice): Do mixed question sets + review every miss (why right answer is right, why yours is wrong).
  • Step 4 (Retest): Take a second full-length test 5–10 days before your exam.

Materials to use (keep it simple)

  1. ATI TEAS Practice Tests A & B (closest to real question style) — use as checkpoints.
  2. One content source for each weak area:
    • Math: Khan Academy (free) + a TEAS math question bank (ATI or Mometrix).
    • Science: ATI manual (if you have it) or Mometrix + extra A&P videos (Khan Academy / Crash Course-style) for gaps.
  3. A notebook/Doc for an Error Log (this is where points come from).

4.5-week schedule (Science + Math heavy)

Weekly goal: ~70% of your study time on Science+Math, ~30% on Reading/English maintenance.

Week 1 (now → ~3/8): Diagnose + foundations

  1. Take one timed mini-diagnostic (not necessarily full test):
    • Math: 30–40 mixed questions
    • Science: 30–40 mixed questions
  2. Build an error log with columns: topic, why missed (concept vs careless vs time), correct rule, 1 example redo.
  3. Content refresh (high-yield):
    • Math: fractions/decimals/percents, ratios/proportions, solving for x, word problems
    • Science: cell basics, genetics basics, chemistry basics (pH, atoms/bonds), scientific method/experimental design

Week 2–3 (~3/9 → ~3/22): Skill-building + lots of practice

  • Math (4 days/week):
    • 20–30 questions/day focused on 1 topic, then 10 mixed
    • Must redo missed types 48 hours later
  • Science (4 days/week):
    • Alternate days: A&P systems + practice
    • Priority systems: cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, renal, endocrine, nervous, immune
    • Add 10–15 “scientific reasoning” questions every other session (experiments, variables, conclusions)

Week 4 (~3/23 → ~3/29): Full practice + patch gaps

  1. Take ATI Practice Test A timed.
  2. Spend 1–2 days reviewing: categorize misses into 5–8 topics.
  3. Drill only those topics (no random studying).

Final days (~3/30–3/31): Light review + confidence

  • Take ATI Practice Test B or a half-length timed set (if full test stresses you out).
  • Review error log + formulas + key science summaries.
  • Don’t cram new content the night before.

What to focus on inside Science + Math (most common point-gainers)

Math “must-haves”:

  • Percent change, proportions, unit conversions, order of operations
  • Simple algebra rearranging: ax+b=c, solving for a variable in a formula
  • Basic geometry: area/perimeter, triangles, circles (and reading graphs)

Science “must-haves”:

  • A&P: organ function + how systems interact (not just vocab)
  • Chem: pH/acids-bases, mixtures/solutions, basic atomic structure
  • Bio: cells/organelles, DNA→RNA→protein, mitosis vs meiosis
  • Scientific method: control vs experimental group, independent/dependent variables

With 6 hours/week and the ATI official study manual, you want a plan that’s (1) consistent, (2) heavy on practice + review, and (3) narrow—no wandering into low-yield topics. Below is a 4.5-week plan to 4/1 built around 3 study sessions/week (2 hours each).

Weekly structure (same each week)

Each 2-hour session:

  1. Targeted review (25 min): read ATI section + make a tiny “cheat sheet” (5–10 bullets max).
  2. Practice (70 min): 30–45 questions (mix of Math/Science depending on the day).
  3. Error log (25 min): for every miss/guess: what concept, why you missed, correct rule, and 1 similar problem you redo.

Rule: If you don’t have time to review mistakes, do fewer questions. Review is where your score jumps.


Week-by-week plan (3 sessions/week × 2 hrs)

Week 1 (now → end of week): Set the foundation + diagnose

Session A (Math focus):

  • ATI Math: fractions/decimals/percents + order of operations
  • Practice: 25–30 questions on these (untimed), then 10 mixed
  • Build a formula sheet (percents, proportion setup, fraction↔decimal)

Session B (Science focus):

  • ATI Science: cells + basic chemistry (atoms, bonding, pH, solutions)
  • Practice: 30–35 questions mixed cell/chem
  • Error log: flag “I didn’t know” vs “I knew but rushed”

Session C (Timed mini-check):

  • 30 min timed Math set + 30 min timed Science set (don’t worry about score yet)
  • Review the rest of the session: identify your top 5 weak subtopics (ex: proportions, unit conversions, endocrine, cardiovascular, pH, etc.)

Week 2: Math core skills + A&P starts

Session A (Math): ratios/proportions + unit conversions (very high yield)
Session B (Science): cardiovascular + respiratory (function, flow, gas exchange)
Session C (Mixed): 50/50 Math+Science mixed practice; add light pressure (timed per question)

Week 3: Algebra/geometry + more A&P

Session A (Math): basic algebra (solve for x; rearrange formulas)
Session B (Science): digestive + renal (urinary)
Session C (Mixed): include data interpretation/scientific reasoning items (experimental design, variables, conclusions)

Week 4: Patch gaps + full timed practice

Session A: review your top 3 weakest Math subtopics + drill
Session B: review your top 3 weakest Science subtopics + drill
Session C (end of week): take one full-length timed practice test (preferably official ATI if you have it; if not, do the largest timed set you can). Spend the next available study time reviewing it deeply.

Week 4.5 (the last 2–3 days before 4/1): Tight review only

  • Re-read your formula sheet + error log
  • Do 20–30 “confidence questions” (topics you repeatedly miss), untimed
  • Sleep > cramming new content

What to prioritize in the ATI manual (highest yield)

  • Math: percents, proportions/ratios, conversions, basic algebra, interpreting graphs/tables, area/perimeter (big 3: rectangle/triangle/circle).
  • Science: A&P systems (cardio/resp/digestive/renal/endocrine/nervous/immune), cells, genetics basics, pH/solutions, scientific method.
